Dude, don't you live in Alabama? If it's anything like Texas all you have to do is walk outside and look around for a moment or two.

I disagree. As soon as he admitted to smoking around his kid and didn't give a poop, I pegged him as scum.
Yeah, I think you need to develop a sense of scale. Though I agree it is pretty fucking dumb to do that.

Smoking, especially around kids, is a big deal for me given my experiences. My hand is the way it is because my mother smoked for the duration of her pregnancy. Cue bullying as a young child and teachers calling me out on my stinky clothing.

OK, that is fucked. Though I question second hand smoke having that effect on kids, little different when mom does it. And man, how much did she smoke? Cause it was pretty normal for people to reek when I was a kid but attitudes have changed substantially.

Think about it this way: I don't recall seeing many images of her during that time without a cigarette in her hand. My brother came out fine, though.

Man you can't even smoke in your car if you have kids present here. Nanny state!

Oddly you still can at home??

you could legislate against smoking at home

but it would be 100% unenforceable

Pretty unenforceable in cars.

Wait, it requires the cops to do their job.

No shit. See it all the time here though. Mostly with people from Quebec. They have odd attitudes about it there.

here's what i would do

houses with even a tiny amount of cigarette damage have no value

none

if you smell it, worth zero

if you see discoloration, worth zero

this happens pretty fucking quick with smokers

so sure, smoke in your house if you want

but don't try to sell it or take a loan against it

well let me put it this way

as unenforceable as it is in cars

it is a million times harder for homes

like you've surmised a cop can still spot it if driving next to you or whatever, and that's enough for a pull over

i might actually buy a house where a smoker used to live

but i'd offer them like $50 for it

with a straight face

i mean what's the worst that's gonna happen? they say no?

and if they say yes i'm sure i can get $50 of value out of a fucking house, even if it's damaged beyond repair by disgusting smoke stench

in the cleaning industry there are specific order codes for 'an house that has been smoked in for decades'

because you need special shit to get the layers of waxy nicotine off every surface without making the cleaners smell like a 50 year old ashtray for months

it's funny as hell, it's like liposuction for a house

you could fill a 40 gallon drum with the gunk they pull out of a house

law comes from rights

only americans have rights

if those brown people accepted american hegemony we might let them be dsicriminated against in the law courts

until then its their own fault

JUST LIKE THE NA'VI

that never stopped my parents :/

going in the car? both smoking, windows up 'cause it's cold out.

i also remember coming out of my bedroom and seeing a thick haze of tobacco smoke in the living room

i was so glad when my mother quit smoking.
