an actual school program i can understand, since they actually get to interact with other people and the cost is subsidized in a lot of cases so it is actually both beneficial and accessible to the poor
but what gets me is the products companies sell to parents of children specifically under three years old, saying it will bring them ahead. for example, educational dvds, flash cards, websites, etc. it can be pretty expensive, the content doesn't seem very important (a handful of spanish words or arithmetic trivia... the spanish is always woefully incomplete and the arithmetic will be done early in regular schol anyway)
and to top it off, i doubt it even works well. plopping a child in front of a television is probably double-tempting to poor people too cuz of the time pressure the working poor are already under
and it just strikes me as being total bullshit

The sexual harassment and cultural sensitivity training was massively unpopular in the army, even with the females. Part of the resentment was likely do to them lumping it in with the week long professional development crap. Aka let us tell you about kit you'll never have.

You know, if I were going to be an asshole, I could point out that in a workplace with properly defined documentation, coding, and development standards (I.E. coding like a ostensible professional and not a hack), everyone in the office working on code wouldn't result in it being messy and difficult.
EDIT: Aaron, I think it's unpopular just about everywhere, and no matter when it's done.

I wash dishes in the kitchen of a club in a lower middle class suburb of Sydney. Think of a place that's full of poker machines, designed to farm old people for their money twenty hours a day. As a result there's a lot of money around, increasing the chance of robbery.
Its vile and exploitative on every level.

Damn. I was a cunthair away from Jub saying he supports child prostitution.
So basically Jub ignores reality and thinks stranger rape is statistically relevant compared to rape by someone the child knows?

I don't know about you but i don't often talk about rape, i think I only found out the relative bit after my wifes brother in law was caught masturbating in his car to some high school students.

I think he's trying to say the opposite of that, but with him it's pretty hard to tell.

I studied criminal justice for a year. I got some statistics.
But I do remember the whole "stranger danger" being much less heavily pushed even in high school. It was kind of abandoned in favor of "suspect everyone."

Yeah, I remember stranger danger. Fear the man with the white van in a trench coat.

It's actually in the thread, and the article in the thread's OP several times, so Jub's got no excuse.

Let's see: Jub is for invading the Middle East because they are rabid dogs, for further fucking over Indians because they get "special rights", and now advocating in favor of allowing pedophiles to invite children to their homes and hand out candy on Halloween.

Nah, he thinks banning guns would stop people from killing each other.

1 and 2 might get you there, but I think any solution to #3 that didn't involve castration with the power of the almighty atom would be out of character.
