surprised they managed the pg rating but pretty good use of the theme music

also, it's pretty funny how baffled everyone is that this shitty "flappy bird" game is suddenly popular

welp turns out on jan 27, the day the google trends started soaring, pewdiepie posted a video with that game

thousands of "angry" facecam let's players followed suit

funny how that horrible person is the most effective marketing machine on the internet

I've been in Fort McMurray for a couple days now. Drove up Thursday and worked yesterday and today. We get up at 1am, start the trucks, and leave the motel by 2. We get to the pit by 3, and we dump gravel a few klicks away in a stockpile. We're twinning Highway 63 up here. We pick up the last load around 2pm. In bed around 6 or 7, hopefully asleep soon after that.

Extremely crude, but really well made actually and for thirty seconds I thought it was the actual film footage of the attempted rape scene (and good attention to detail, with the OCP propaganda billboard in the background faithfully recreated presumably on Photoshop).

Did you insulate the Quonset? The door is busted on mine. :(

But hey, if your trucking ever takes you through Lake Manitoba Narrows let me know. We can do lunch.

on the CW! i saw a couple episodes of that. my general reaction has been meh. not good enough to turn on but not bad enough to turn off so if the tv is already going after seinfeld i'll keep it on

now one new cw show i've found to be surprisingly watchable is "reign". i watched an episode of that primarily because "two and a half men" over on cbs is bad enough to turn off and i don't get a lot of channels so back to the cw i went.

anyway... i kinda liked it. so i watched another one, this time changing away from the meh "the crazy ones" to watch the whole hour... and i liked it again

so yeah i'm a fan

So why is it so many people hate him, and yet he has over 22 million subs? Is it an envy-hate, is there legitimate reasons for this?

IOW I'd like for somebody to finally explain to me the enigma that is pewdiepie. At least here I'm reasonably confident I'll get the straight dope.

People like to see a guy overreact to video games and scream rape, I guess. I don't get it either.

That's basically his whole deal

He's just loud and obnoxious and shouts the word 'rape' a lot

Probably his subscribers are not among those that hate him, but no, I would not say it is "envy hate", which in my experience is overrated as an explanation for anything. Most probably just find his videos annoying, and the popularity makes these videos appear everywhere, as a constant irritant.
The "Let's play" community (the original anyway; long since dwarfed by the "look at me" community) appear to have their own reasons for hating him: He was the first relevant person to make the so-called "scarecam let's play", where the LPer superimposes a video of themselves screaming in front of the game they are playing, shifting focus completely from the game to themselves. A vile breach of true-LP code of conduct. Their hate is no doubt exacerbated by the fact that he would not exist if not for their own video Let's plays. In a way they created their own monster.
Another source of hate may be that his popularity creates these "baffling" surges of popularity for mediocre things but which he can use to promote himself, like the aforementioned "Flappy bird" game. This was in no way the first time. It's the same reason behind the popularity of the "Slenderman" "genre" of "games". He played the first game and because of his millions of views, other people believed the game itself must have been worth copying. In effect he is a hyper-advertisement. If they haven't already, it will not be long until companies start tailor-making shitty games and giving him money to show them off for instant "viral" popularity. This is not a development anyone would like to see, but we're getting closer every day.

not to mention his fanbase is fucking weird. like seriously, it's some sort of cult, but it's based around a guy screaming about rape for ten minutes in front of a computer game??? he is very protective of these fans, always telling what special snowflakes they are, instead of the morally correct "jesus fuck what is wrong with you" response. not all that surprising though considering they make him tons of dollar signs.

Yeah it's insulated. Fibreglass insulation between the outside skin and plastic held up by a wood frame inside. We're getting quotes for a concrete floor and getting wiring in for lighting soon. It's gonna be awesome. Barbecues every day!

I downloaded Flappy Bird into my new Samsung tablet, found it a frustrating and bland piece of fuck, and then de-installed it.

Caught the conclusion to the NCIS bombing two parter on my laptop (and wah hah hey to yet more extrajudicial murder by Agent Gibbs!).

So, I've just watched that Tom Cruise "Oblivion" movie.

Am I the only one to find it drowning in biblical themes and symbols? Mostly Genesis, the Garden of Eden, and the Fall from Grace to be more precise...
