robomormons to full power
There's a spectre of a decent point in the robomormon's post, namely that limb damage shouldn't destroy the entire mech, but it's more on the level of a broken clock being right twice a day.
I actually like that blasting the legs just gimps you in MW4, because legging was stupid, but blasting off an arm shouldn't cause critical damage. BTech does need a better dismemberment mechanic though.

MW4 does have some crazy damage transfer rules so that you can still leg people in a sense because leg damage transfers to the body.

Which is also true of the table top game but you know it's not an issue.

Imagine if ammo splosions were triggered by implications of ammo feeds between guns and other areas where there was ammo

Blow off arm whoops your left leg full of missiles exploded

i don't even want to guess how ammo feeds work in a Mad Cat

like Valkyries have more coherent internal schematics

ACV is out today in Orztralia. I'm not exactly the world's most unbiased source on Armored Core so I won't recommend it, but things like defense being about making trade-offs between different weapon types as opposed to just stacking HP, different leg types having more significant impacts on mobility and combat (reverse joint having better walljumping, tank not being able to walljump but always having more firepower available, quads being able to use heavier firepower while retaining some wall jumping), the general changes to mobility and close combat, the more robust team based multi means that it's easily the best AC game. If you can get people together to make a PMC there could be some mileage in the online stuff (but I mean Syndo is almost certainly better but it's a different kind of multi).

Some guys I know were talking about being in a PMC really changes up how you customise your shit, as you respond to suggestions from your team mates, or you respond to changes they make etc.

Maybe try it out? Even if the controls appeal you prolly won't get a lot of play out of it unless you can convince some dudes to play it too.

also you can dive underwater which is kind of neat :v

Oh wow I didn't think about he mobility shot

So tanks have all guns all the time but can't use the trick agility stuff

Can they be made fast or are they still te slowest leg type like in ac1

Man I even have a preorder

Ford do you have live atm

Basically tanks can use both arm weapons at the same time, while other types are limited to one at a time. They can still do all the melee stuff including RED COMET KICK, but I don't know about overall speed, just ability differences. A guy who plays mostly tanks was saying that being able to overboost backwards was really useful for tanks wanting to disengage from combat.

No Live at the moment, I currently have limited operational cashflows. Gotta get me some student allowance.

Can you tell me about operator role

What do they do
What affect do they have
Etc

Also availability of hover utes

I'm actually not really clear on what operators do as such. Like I know they can drop UAVs to reveal shit going on in other parts of the map, and I think they can set objectives and waypoints, but I don't know if they have other options. I think they're all about giving situational awareness to a team, as they can always monitor stuff going on in a certain radius around their dudes so they can just be all 'RAVEN BOGEY ON YOUR SIX POP FLARES'.

Repair and ammo costs can be pretty brutal (more so for mercs than PMCs), so being coordinated is pretty important.

Are they on the map somewhere or off in a chopper or something? Nothing even seems to talk about what play is like for those guys

I think they're supposed to be connected by satellite or whatever. I'm pretty sure they're off map. It's honestly pretty sparse.

The persistent territory control is kind of interesting but also a little worrying given that if you're not online you'll need to rely on the turrets you've bought lol

i watched some vids and it looks pretty neat; they get a map with sensor circles, can drop a ping every now and again, can actually see the loadouts and guns etc of any contact, gets an overview of team health and ammo status, can get a picture-in-picture of any contact and fullscreen vision from any team guy

also ac5 looks fucking jawesome

the effects and terrain make it look like GULF WAR 1992

Yeah, you can't really deny that it has some pretty impressive atmosphere. I mean From's track record hasn't been great, but they've put a lot of work into this game which is readily apparent.

It remains to be seen how this turns out, but having a guy available to keep an eye on shit and direct the PMC to hot-spots, let them know what they're going up against and so on is pretty sweet for team play. Everyone needs to have voice to make full use of it, but who doesn't have a mic?

from the looks it ties into your shit about repairs being expensive

it's not typical deathmatch because very shot fired or hit taken fucks up the whole team

so you gotta set up each fight to be efficient etc

and the maps seem impressively large given what i saw in ac4

If you stock up on beams or melee weapons you can try to cut ammo costs

But if you find a guy with anti-beam armour or a really mobile dude you'll cop shitloads of damage.

I guess the objective for the Operator is to outmanoeuvre the enemy Operator and do shit like isolate enemy ACs or encircle their team while preventing the same. It's a good approach to robot multi and is helped by the larger and more detailed environments. Better than MWO in any case, especially given that Armored Core has always had a better model for robots and ACV is easily the best.

Also I think you can do all the SP missions co-op

Let us work together for Father, Stark. :zaku:

frod is the early game really gimped on parts or can you be pretty flexible out of the gate

cause i want a gun-based tank from day zero

I didn't really have a good look because of uni, but the early game doesn't seem to have heaps of limitations.

The game has like 500+ individual parts so there's more scope for them to give you more options at the beginning, but I can't confirm at the moment lol

People who have only had the game for less than a day were talking about how tanks operate so at the very least you should be able to get there with minimal time investment.
