Animals can't consent
So as long as they're dead to begin with, then morally it's probably okay??
Christ it's like playing Oblivion all over again

They also aren't people. Their consent doesn't matter anymore then it does than when we kill then or otherwise control their lives.

Because I couldn't find an existing music recommendation thread that wasn't old as balls, and I'm too lazy to start a new one...
Carpenter Brut
Tracks featured in the OST of Hotline Miami 2:
"Roller Mobster", quite dancey, actually. In fact, almost makes you want to smash faces on rhythm with it.
"Escape From Midwich Valley", parts of it are featured in the game's trailer.
You can listen to the whole album for free on streaming, so feel free to explore it.

But literally the only difference between a reply and new post is typing in a title.
...
On second thought, I commend you, sir.

The smartphone industry pulled the carpet out from under me when I traded in my damaged Nokia Lumia 930 for a Samsung Galaxy S4, I got blind sided by the specific size of the SIM cards needed for newer and older smartphone units respectively! So I got a Nano SIM card from my Nokia Lumia lodged into a Micro SIM slot of the Samsung Galaxy!!!

My gran was buried yesterday. She was the last of that level of my family tree. All my grandparents and all their siblings and cousins are gone now. So that part makes me feel a little melancholy, even if her passing doesn't much affect me directly. The only grandparent I was close to died when I was in high school and I couldn't go to his funeral because he was Scottish and we just couldn't make it over.
As callous as it sounds, I'd just as soon skipped it yesterday, but that would have been really hurtful to my dad.
That said, it would have been much less unpleasant if the preacher hadn't been so long winded. Brevity, it seems, is not a part of his vocabulary.

It's things like that which make me glad Dad was very private with his religion.
We're going to have a big fuck all bonfire in his honor, filled with delicious food and cooked meats. None of this standing around sadly while some old guy rambles on about things I don't believe and Dad didn't support.

My condolences, by the way. I should have started with that, but I've been scatterbrained lately. This kind of thing always sucks.

Ah, don't sweat it. Condolences aren't really needed. I've never been close to that side of the family, at least, not since I grew up. Like I said, I'd just have soon have skipped it, even though it was my grandmother. I only went since it was dad's mom and I didn't want to be that level of dick when he was broken up about it, if hiding it.
The preacher actually did know her and probably said quite a bit she would have agreed with. That side of my family is composed primarily of rabid Southern Baptists.

I gave up and bought Word when I decided that I was tired of having the formatting of my college papers be randomly fucked up for no apparent reason when I converted them to doc and that the best way to do that would be to just...use the actual program that was made for. It's the standard for a reason.

why not LaTeX
It's a 30-year-old compiled typesetting system that completely fucks your life but when the planets align it's awesome.

LaTeX is fine if you either don't have to collaborate with anyone in any way, or the people you do collaborate with are all total nerds who know what the fuck LaTeX is
That said, for my personal stuff I write in markdown and then use
pandoc to convert it to whatever I actually need. It uses LaTeX if you want to generate PDFs, so you can get most of the advantages of LaTeX without having to actually write in LaTeX. Plus it can generate ODT, DOCX, Doc, HTML and epub.

Heard that I might get an offer on my house within the next week or so.
That's encouraging. I've been living at my folks' house for about three months now and I'm about ready to crawl out of my skin.

Okay, so the offer was pretty lowball. Absurdly so. Wait and see.
Also, "Christianity isn't a religion, it's a relationship."

Not an uncommon Christian sentiment.
I remember the head of the Religious Studies program at my college once told me that early on when they first started to hear about it European Christians thought Islam was a Christian heresy.

Do what I do: volunteer to write the report.
LaTeX is fantastic.

Pandoc sounds interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Well, they came back with a more reasonable offer. I countered.
It's a little lower than I would have liked, but such is life.
