@ Veef : Totally. Like all the off-hand commentaries that lead me to believe mens are perceived as the "weak sex".

Also the hilarious reactions of the Flower Lady's apprentice.

@ Zabs : I don't remember it being sung in the show (at least not in the episodes from Horrible Subs)

They sang it in episode 8. It's an old folk song from WW2.

If they've been eliminating war since the 20s and everyone spends their formative years on worldwide cruises, maybe the concept of a country is fairly meaningless in general.

No that's her daughter. Hana's (TL: Hana means flower) mother wanted her daughter be a flower arranger. It's a common hobby for girls.

He's a useless man!

Or a chauffeur. Whichever comes first.

So that Muv Luv Total Eclipse just ended. I almost though the main character was going to go for his robot as the best girl but in the end he made the right choice.

I just watched the first episode of From the New World

I'm still a little fuzzy on what's going on (is gravity just psychic powers or what)

but the art looks stunning

i am kind of interested in the psychology going on

whatsherface didn't want to have relaxing bonobo sex because I guess she was sort of feeling manipulated by her pre-programmed instincts

But wouldn't relaxing bonobo sex be well established within the culture and be totally normal and stuff in the first place? I guess I'd imagine it would be as if someone said "the desire to make friends is a pacifying measure installed in your genetic code!". I think I'd be like, "huh weird", and continue to do that anyway, y'know?

maybe it's because their sexuality is only budding so the whole thing's weird for them

Lighter things have ruined the mood for me than "just a few hours ago I learnt that this very sexual desire I'm feeling was implanted in me by scientists as a form of social control" :L

I'm really interested in queerat society and how they relate to humanity. The way humanity is their gods is so far handled a lot more interestingly than it could have been in my eye.

Also the art style gets bonus points for having people have noses rather than snouts in profile

I haven't finished the first episode when they're 14

but it's interesting to see her having changed from 'this is creepy I don't wanna' to 'haha I'm making out with this chick wtf am I even doing :V'

Hormones man

I am interested to know how all this social engineering is conducive to being chill bros

Because it's not as specific as just violence I think it's a general attitude towards conflict resolution

But they can hurt each other's feelings and stuff

A later episode gives a throw away line about the 'too quiet ones' also being selected against, and it's heavily hinted quite earlier on that they consider social isolation just as bad as violence.
