I remember last time we tried to do some MP together.
We spent like one hour and a half trying to set up the game, to finally play not even fifteen minutes.
Never played that game so it could be interesting. Just have to find an appropriate window, what with different timezones and me being in finale season.

Well weren't we trying to play hearts of iron for some reason? NWN servers are down now but the game doesn't hate you for trying to play unlike HoI.

We were trying to play Star Ruler, but the game kept crashing, so finally we settled upon Civ 5. But then you had to go.

Yeah. Even in Antiquity it takes a bit for each player to take their turn, so I don't even want to imagine how slow the gameplay might be when you're in modern time and everyone has a shitton of cities and units to take care of.
And then, war happpen and everything goes to shit.

I appreciate the enthusiasm from critics for Psychonauts's very unique look and peppy story but man they didn't tell me how much of it is adventure game style fetch quests wrapped up in awkward platforming
Still pretty fun even when a huge tree blocks your view when jumping between platforms over a bottomless pit

Thinking about it, my main problem with multiplayer these days, aside from finding people to play with, is finding a timeslot where all involved can play which is more than 15 minutes long.
Aside from all the BULLSHIT that surround that game, that's a thing I rather like with the new simcity, the fact that the multiplayer is asynchronous and persistent ; though I don't see how you could pull off asynchronous gameplay with games like Civilization, aside from Play By Email - but then if I want to play a game that will take a year to be completed I'll just play Apocalypsis.
By the way, that game is a good example of how you can pull off an "asynchronous" strategy game : each order take a certain, fixed amount of IRL time to be executed. The only problem is that sometimes, when you go to war it pushes people to stay up at 4 AM just to launch a few offensive orders so that they will be synchronized with other orders they had given - but then I'll put that on the same level of "dude WTF" as playing starcraft against Koreans.

Offensive defensive is the smoothest, most stylish way of avoiding unblockables. It's incredibly difficult but you can actually dodge forward through an unblockable attack, blade mode cancel immediately and lead directly into a combo. It's incredibly satisfying if you get it right.
Otherwise yeah you just have to be out of the way.

That sounds a bit complicated. I've never been able to pull off a good counter for those.
Also I just discovered that it's one of those games where you have to fight all the earlier bosses a second time around. Monsoon was a huge pain in the ass the first time, ughhh. . .

At least the soundtrack is catchy.
It really reminds me of Power Rangers for some reason.

I have no idea what the fuck to do.
I have the wankamantium sword and I'm fighting the senator, and I die every time he throws a piece of junk at me because I can't slash the second piece in the row, because it never lines up with my angle of attack. Well nevermind, I guess I was just an idiot for that part. But holy fuck this fight is hard. I'm not fast enough for this shit.

The final two bosses are really difficult, yes. Sam killed me fifteen times before I beat him.

So, as positive aspect to the whole Sim City debacle, EA offered me a free game in a selection of titles.
The only interesting ones / ones I didn't already have where the last Battlefield & Medal of Honor, Mass Effect 3 and Dead Space 3.
Given Battlefield is most probably only interesting in multiplayer, that Medal of Honor games tend to be snorefest shooter-on-rails, and that I have played neither Dead Space 1 or 2, I said fuck it and went with Mass effect.
I still have to finish the first game. Once that's done I'll only need to wait for a sale on steam on the second episode.

Actually, yeah, that was my experience, too. Sam is where I finally figured out how to friggen parry.
The gorilla bots give me more trouble than he did.

The multiplayer in mass effect 3 is actually really good, and they released 4 expansions to it for free. The unlock system is a bit weird, but the basic human adept is so powerful you don't need any of the high end equipment to be competitive.

Did Bioware ever confirm that they aren't doing the challenges anymore? They haven't done one for two weeks now, but there hasn't been anything posted on their blog about them being over. I just needed one more to get the challenge points dammit!

Pretty sure they're all done, the Montreal studio that did all the multiplayer stuff has switched over to fulltime production of ME4.
