But to be honest I'm not into stealth games anyway. i've had a copy of Splinter Cell : Chaos Theory for years now, and never really bothered to finish it (it was a present). Although I remember the music tracks were pretty sweet, in the electronic / ambient style.

As for Revengeance, being a Devil May Cry-like action game, i'm not sure i'd enjoy playing it.

To be honest it's hard for me to play FPS and other actions games for more than fifteen minutes at a time nowadays, as I have to regularly stop playing, from sensory overload. These games tire me really fast. And given I mostly play to relax and unwind (kind of why I prefer turn-based strategy games, or slow-paced action games like World of Tanks were individual games rarely exceed 6-8 minutes)...

When I think used to play Duke Nukem, Doom, Blood and other games like that all day long when I was a kid...

So the Star Citizen (yeah yeah lol PC gamers let's move on please thanks) hanger module is live. One step closer to an MMO that actually looks like real fun.

I know the way things are going, and as much as I hate the thought of it, I'll probably be forced to get Steam sooner rather than later (Goddamn you Rome 2 Total War). There's also the Paradox Humble Bundle which is only giving Steam keys, so there's that.

Thus, sell me on Steam! And no, don't bother with the whole "play games anywhere" and "never need CDs again" aspects. I know all that, digital downloads rock, and so forth. I want to know about the Steam client itself. Specifically, I remember hearing of a lot of bugs and annoyances from it, and I want to know what the status of those is. A few examples:

- It won't stay in offline mode, even if you tell it to and you're not verifying/downloading a game.
- It will try to patch games without you telling it to, even if said game is already fully patched (so it's repeating patching).
- Similar to the above, it tries to re-download games you already have downloaded.

I think there were a few more but I forgot them. So basically, what's the rundown on Steam, it's bugs, reliability, etc? I'd rather ask and get what are hopefully straight answers rather than a bunch of pro-/anti-Steam propaganda.

(I know I just reposted this from SB, but that site is unreliable and the P-dox Bundle is only up for like five days from now, so I want to try and spread this to get more opinions. Probably mirror it on SDN too whenever it's working)

The only issue i've ever had with Steam is that by default it saves your credit card information, and to make sure it doesn't you have to un-check a box on the lower right hand corner of the screen which is barely visible against the black background.

- They've fixed a bunch of bugs with this recently and shouldn't be a problem anymore.
- Repeat-patches are extremely rare and you can tell games not to auto-update individually
- This isn't a thing that happens unless you've seriously borked a game and it has to verify files.

http://www.gamefront.com/mechwarrior-on ... esplosion/

More Mechwarrior Online shenanigans.
Ghost Heat led to the first wave of “cancellations.” Shortly before Ghost Heat was announced and implemented, PGI started selling a new game bundle known as Project Phoenix. In essence, it was a second founder’s pack: you got to buy 12 ‘Mechs, three months of premium game time, and a bunch of alternative gear, all in a large bundle. With the release of Ghost Heat, the first wave of loyal players began to request refunds for Project Phoenix, essentially “ragequitting” the game they had supported for so long. A few even performed charge-backs through their bank, in which they claimed charges to their credit cards or bank accounts hadn’t been authorized. They got their money back from the original founder’s pack, at the cost of a permanent ban.
This is pretty fucked up all over.

Mechwarrior Online’s road to launch is a cautionary consumer tale, fraught with anger and betrayal. It shows how a company can take a fan base dedicated to an old IP and completely alienate it through lack of communication, unpopular features, and oathbreaking. It shows how players need to be cautious of supporting a project based solely on the IP backing it.

Most depressingly, it shows how you can’t always trust a developer to keep its promises.

The terrible price... of nostalgia. :zaku:

Every year or so some game persuades me to give Steam another chance, and every time I reinstall it it turns out to be still a buggy, annoying piece of shit. Like, there's different bugs and annoyances every time so i assume they've got some sort of fucking rota set up to give all the bugs an opportunity to shine but yeah it's still fucking garbage

For the record, I haven't had a steam bug in about 3 years.

Everyone's experience is a little different, I guess.

I don't experience steam bugs, for what it's worth. Nothing of importance at least.

I bought the Metal Gear Solid Legacy collection. It's actually just a bundle of MGS4 and the previous HD collection but they give you free download codes for MGS1 and the VR missions.

I'm still miffed that the PS4 doesn't have backwards compatibility. I may buy one in a few years, so maybe it won't matter when the cloud service is up and running. But hey, I'm sure FFX-HD won't be out until 2015 at the current rate.

Why is he sorry he pulled the merchandise? I can understand being sorry about the WAY he did it, but pulling it was a good move in a shitty overall situation.

Also he pretty recently made a bunch of transphobic tweets and I honestly think it's going to take more than one apology from someone who seriously thought that he as a fairly large media voice attacking rape victims for criticising his rape jokes was an example of him standing up to bullying. There's such a huge change of concept here that more than that one post is going to be needed before I recognise that he really did understand what he was doing.

By understanding, do you mean just now, or as he was doing it ? Because if it's the latter, it would actually only make it worse, I'd say.

Only now. It's possible for people to learn from their previously shitty ways (literally everyone has to do it in some respect) but there was just so much bad there and not nearly all of it was touched upon that apology that I'm not sure he understands even now all he has to apologise for.

at times like these I look to scholars for guidance
Otacon : Do you know the saying "Those who walk a hundred leagues think
not that their journey is half ended until the ninetieth league"?
That means... -- what does it mean -- OK. It means that if you're
planning to walk that far, you'd better damn well know how to do
simple arithmetic. Study! Stay in school!

Snake : This seems to be getting more and more random.

Otacon : Correction -- it's becoming more deep. Trust me.

So I stopped playing dizzadogs a while back because my checkpoint save was basically on top of a dragon, on the way to my next quest.

I decided to just dick around again today, and I actually beat the bastard, though it wasn't without help. The pawns I'm borrowing from, uh... Aaron? and someone else did a lot of asskicking.
