man where does this 'bad dental care' thing come from? I've heard it from Americans a few times, but it doesn't bear anything close to reality

It's not that the French don't take baths. It's that they eat so much cheese it's hard to tell the difference. :smug:

I never bath.

I take showers instead.

anyway, over here at least 'the french don't bathe' comes from the same basic reason as syphalis was traditionally called 'the french disease'
xenophobia/rival neighbour/rival empire stuff

so I guess that american 'lol brits don't brush their teeth' thing is some sort of anti-british-imperialism thing? A cultural holdover from 1776? But where did that specific thing come from... I'm thinking it's probably WWII stuff (1. pretty serious rationing, 2. pre-NHS, general low levels of health in urban areas, 3. lots of contact with american GIs, plus newsreels)

Family Guy had one of the best moments for Anglo-American cross-culturalism:

"Oh, so you like fags, eh? Well 'ere, 'ave a whole CARTON of them!"

Ah, yeah, "Code Quantum". A good show, that one. Love the opening theme.

based solely on three minutes of captain archer saying oh boy. I declare quantum leap to be a terrible awful show that should never ever have been made.
