hey i just figured ethics are like math
tell me if this is stupid
but in both cases you have rules created by humans
that are nonetheless describing concepts that are universal and independent of us

ethics are a lot more subjective with bigger gray areas

Zod:
yeah but i say that's a difficulty of interacting with the real world rather than it actually being grey fundamentally
in other words, if you were an all knowing god, right and wrong would be clear, in the same sense that in math you can always say 4+1 > 4 because you know all the facts so you can make that determination
of course we aren't god so in practice you're right
basically i'm saying right and wrong is a clear picture
we're just looking at it through a foggy window

harming animals is wrong
but you can't have enough food to feed everyone without harming some animals
gray area

mang it is hard to use a computer with gloves on (it is down to 48 degrees F in here, cold enough to bring pain to my fingers, but waaaay too late to justify turning the heater on, so i put gloves on)
i was just trying to click my precious email window
and fat fingered the two mouse buttons and closed it
the worst part is if i just finished my w0rk instead of typing this post i could prolly be getting into my (soon to be) warm bed right now
but i like complaining

turn on your fucking heater, wtf

that'd be burning oil needlessly though
(i do kinda live by that thing i described! saves money too which is a nice bonus, but my budget isn't under pressure anyway)
but since i'm going to bed soon it isn't a big deal
only about 25 degrees outside, so there's no risk of anything freezing inside overnight; my plants and stuff and pipes can handle it
(the only freezing event I've ever actually had occurred when it was -15 outside overnight, and it was still a minor one, so while i consider the risk of freezing, it isn't likely.)
and in my blanket cocoon it is warm, so it doesn't affect me either with two exceptions: right now, and dragging my cold, lazy ass out of bed in the morning.
especially tomorrow. the babies will be here at ~9:30 so i'll have to turn the heater on at about 7am to make it warm enough for them when they get here
ugh. i'd program the timer on the heater but the power has to stay on for that to work, and if the power is on, the lowest setting is 46; it will burn a little overnight too, in the ballpark of 1/3 gallon of kerosene that didn't really need to be burnt. so i prefer the manual control
regardless i complain but it isnt that bad at all
the cold bothers me less than my fucking email window now being on the right hand side of the taskbar instead of the left
now when i flick the mouse out of habit i click on
the work window
nooooooooo

Let me just put it this way, if his job is bagging groceries at the store or bussing the tables at Mickey D's, well....not going to be too surprised.

I think it's an attempt to troll Thanas that went horribly wrong... or right. Depend on your perspective.

What bothers me about that thread is thanas and how arrogantly he is about killing off Newfoundlands only remaining industry. Fuck em, they don't need to eat!
