Ok, weird. Today I logged in and started playing TOR, and I got an in-game email thanking me for purchasing the Rise of the Hutt Cartel expansion, except I don't remember buying it. Checked my credit card bill, no out of place charges, checked my payment history, nothing wonky, no one else has been leveling my toons, so I know no one else is using my account.

I wonder what happened.

hey guys have you checked out this game "Ittle Dew" yet?

i hear it's either a "shameless zelda ripoff" that's "not zelda enough", alternatively the "greatest game of all time" that may be "totally worth the money"

but i guess it'll do

it has a child protagonist that pisses people off because they thought she was a guy. if you think you are playing a boy that later turns out to be a girl, game = ruined fuck you metroid good thing they fixed that shit in later games with the boob suit so we don't miss any opportunities to play left handed if you know what i mean

also it was made by us. i was brought in to fix most of the game breaking bugs in the game's godawful code. also i made the secret boss and its awesome music (not the chiptune version which i think is still there in some versions). you're welcome :colbert:

So something fun happened the other day in TOR. Shocking I know.

Somehow, a Sith Assassin managed to sneak into Aurek base, the Republic's primary stronghold on Hoth. He didn't attack anyone for some reason, but he was automatically flagged for PvP since he was in Republic territory. I flagged for PvP and tried to attack him, but he went into stealth before I could finish him off. I used an area effect stun attack to force him to break stealth and attacked again, but the coward just ran because he was two levels below me. He managed to stealth again, and I started organizing a team of about four republic players to hunt him down and kill him or force him out of the base. We only had one guy with stealth detection, so the other three would go around the base using area effect attacks to try to force him to break stealth and engage. Unfortunately we weren't able to find him. I suspect he doubled back and ran like hell after the second time I attacked him.

I think a number of people here may appreciate the comment of the following youtube channel : http://www.youtube.com/user/MrBtongue/videos

Some of my favorite videos (which I may have already linked) :

The Shandification of Fallout (non-linear, player driven story-telling)
Un-ruining the MMO (how could someone finally make MMOs worth spending time on ?)
Cyberpunk is back! (an interesting exploration of what makes cyberpunk as a genre, and how it is different from science-fiction)

Jesus wept, GTA V took many minutes to load up the whopping memory space (and requires two discs to run). I've played it relatively briefly and so-far it looks/feels like a cross between Just Cause 2 and Red Dead Redemption.

man i never got further than a few missions into gta iv. i made the mistake of playing it after SR2.

In the end it was much more funner just to go back to that. Where vehicles were controllable and the game was fun.

So coupled with the price point of new games. and the weird triple protanganist thing it has going. not playing gta v anytime soon., Though i am interested in how the three people thing works out.

So, I finally got on bandwagon and got myself Bioshock Infinite.

Only, like, two hours in so far
just got liz out of the Monument, and currently trying to find her in Battleship-whatever
Not bad, I like it. It definitely is more engaging and immersive than Bioshock 1.

Man, the first time you get into Columbia, when everything is still peaceful...

I think I could have spent dozens of minutes in the Cathedral or whatever, just chilling and listening to the choir.

Yeah, they definitely did a great job about scenery design. It feel so... natural in its unrealness, that you don't even start thinking about suspension of disbelief.

Well, on the other hand I'm already feeling that the story is going to be confusing, but fuck that noise, it's a fun ride so far.

Also
love the "twins".

I agree that Saints Row 2 is easily the best imitation GTA game so far while GTA IV nearly vanished up its backside (still a very solid, reasonably entertaining game though).

GTA V feels like a remake of San Andreas and going round Los Santos I often get flashes of Deja vu (I get the impression that they got the original code and design work for Los Santos from San Andreas, then updated, enlarged, and swapped things about). The landscape and small towns in the hinterland beyond Los Santos is interesting and goes on for frigging ages (so far I've come across a air force/navy air base, a prison, a NOOSE compound, and right up in the mountains at the far side of the game's landmass is a survivalist settlement where the folks hiding there shoot you on sight).

Also there's a lot of critters like in Red Dead Redemption.

And here's one of my favourite soundtracks on one of the pop stations:

Do they have a station like that ambient/soundscapes station from IV? Odyssey I think it was?

Also, re Bioshock Infinite : screw escort missions.
that mission where you have to save the power core of an airship from constant onslaught of the Vox Populi : that's an "escort mission" in my book.
Good thing that Elizabeth is impervious to bullets, because otherwise the whole game would probably be EXTREMELY frustrating.
