Alyrium is one of those hilarious guys who would be fine with a brutally oppressive totalitarian state as long as it does what he wants
the best part is this coupled with his outrageous paranoia and personal cowardice
he's the poster child for the weak and abused happy to destroy society to get 'revenge'

Give him a trenchcoat and a mac10 and send him to a highschool in the midwest and he'd know what to do.

I feel pretty sorry for him. That letter he wrote to Obama was, even with the truley horrible Trek references, pretty gut wrenching.

feel sorry for him because he's impotent
if he wasn't, he'd be hurting other people
cycle of abuse

as stark says in the thread the language is creepy and the pop culture references are horrible...but that central message of being under siege cause of your sexuality was pretty jarring. The fight for gay rights can be pretty abstract when you're not living the nightmare day in, day out.
I dunno, just think that letter says huge amounts about why he is the way he is

actually I just scrolled to the bottom of the thread and saw Tevar's picture
oh dear me, shattered dreams
and actually...want a really a fun exercise? Get yourself a copy of Down to the Crossroads by Guy Rundle. Read it. Read some threads from the 2008 election on SDN. Compare and contrast the respective assessments of obama, what he stands for, and what the election's really about
your conclusion may tell you that obama's 'great betrayal' has a significant amount to do with SDN self-delusion

At this point, the idea of a true left candidate is a joke and probably was then.

I'll be honest, the idea of Obama as this huge mistake strikes me as wrong somehow.
But I mean my actual understanding of American politics is zero so

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gerrymandering#Etymology
The word gerrymander (originally written Gerry-mander) was used for the first time in the Boston Gazette on March 26, 1812. The word was created in reaction to a redrawing of Massachusetts state senate election districts under the then-governor Elbridge Gerry (pronounced /ˈɡɛri/; 1744–1814). In 1812, Governor Gerry signed a bill that redistricted Massachusetts to benefit his Democratic-Republican Party. When mapped, one of the contorted districts in the Boston area was said to resemble the shape of a salamander.
