you know that weird feeling when two bits of the world you don't normally associate with each other come together?
Radio 3 is playing music from The Last of Us right now and it's kind of weirding me out

It seems to be OK in the mornings and nights but out during the afternoons and evenings.

SB has always had connectivity issues. I can't remember a single week long period where I was either unable to log on, or just gave up and went somewhere else because it was going too goddamn slow.

i think my internet is kinda broken
i used this program to stress test a web program and it added a bunch of ip addresses to my network card
which caused a conflict with the router and killed everything. the problem is i don't know how to reset it without rebooting hte whole computer, and i have 50 programs open so i really dont want to do that
i am currently back on cuz i manually hacked the arp cache and routing tables to avoid the problematic ips, but this shit just aint right
why didn't the program clean up after itself?

well now that the internet's back i was able to look up the necessary command
ip addr flush dev eth0
huh that's pretty simple. but i had no idea

I managed to access it briefly this morning.
Maybe it's just getting more popular with people in school and shit accessing it during the day between (or during lol) classes etc.

i luv microsoft windows so much
it is like "ppl would find that useful. let's make it easy to use and work well"
contrast to linux where "ppl would find that useful. let's have at least 5 different ways to do it, each more complex than the last, and discourage use of the one that works best and btw it still won't actually work right"
for example i have this windows program that i want to add some networking too without getting super complicated. mang if only there was some way to get messages on my window when it is ready to read more data
The WSAAsyncSelect function requests Windows message-based notification of network events for a socket.
oh my god is it really that simple?
you mean i don't have to dig into the guts of the system and find random file descriptors to self pipe and epoll and/or spin up a couple threads and all the hassle that brings?
inconceivable
another one, i have a .wav file i want to play
The PlaySound function plays a sound specified by the given file name, resource, or system event.
what? seriously? for real?
you mean i don't have to spend
20 lines opening /dev/dsp and ioctrling and writing it 100 lines figuring out the sound server bullshit 200 lines querying ALSA devices and opening them just to get improper functionality whatever the fuck it is now that PulseAudio is breaking sound on ppl's linux boxes?
the joy!

How evil would I be if I said I wish the entire middle east would die in a fire?

Depends. Are you talking metaphorically, or talking about finding a way to somehow ignite all those underground oil fields at once and have them burn up to the surface, turning the place into literally a hellish burning wasteland*?
*Some violation of physics and other natural laws may or may not be required.

That's almost the most evil thing someone could wish for

Silent Hill in RL.
I'm just sick of all the bullshit that happens there.

The most important thing for people who aren't Americans to do is make sure their lives either go unnoticed or else are sufficiently entertaining for the Americans. Failing that, their lives are forfeit

Well yes but there's a difference in scale and I'm trying to give an accurate answer.
I mean there's like, uh... "[Insert terrible non-Hitler dictator here]" evil and then there's "if Emperor Palpatine was an actual person and the Death Star and Alderaan were real" evil.

"[Insert terrible non-Hitler dictator here]"
I would have said Pol-Pot, but managing to kill 1/3rd of your own population in a few years seems pretty close to Hitler-level villainy by my book.

Well, topically I think you can say Al-Assad level of villainy is what you're looking for. He's just at a mere 100,000 dead so far, but he get bonus points for several million refugees AND the use of chemical weapons.
If he really put his heart into the work and with a bit more effort, he'll even be able to reach the Saddam Hussein rank.

God damn piece of shit fucking asshole SB server. Make a fairly long reply when the board
was running well, try to post and it says "Server did not respond in time, you hatfucker" (may have embellished slightly) and then it shits itself and won't load anything anymore.
Of course odds are that the reply did go through, probably twice, because that's what always seems to happen. It gives me that error, and even if I go back to the forum page and click the thread anew, it won't show my post. So I type my reply again...and BAM doublepost.

always paste long posts in notepad before hitting submit
you never know when the internets are going to eat them

Oh, I did. Also helps with formatting, too. Because the quote I was working with had a bunch of odd formatting, so deleting it was much easier in Notepad.
Still pretty annoying though that I can't post it.
