Not sure whether they use the standard propulsion systems or use tractor/repulsors to get around
What happens if the SIF goes down?

Whatever else happens, a redshirt dies.

I've had this mental image for awhile now of a Constitution-class doing an ad-hoc "hover over ground and be imposing as fuck" maneuver by basically setting the tractor beam on "push" and aiming it wide-beam at the ground. I mean the emitter basically pops out of a port under and behind the reactor shaft, it's fairly center-ish with the ship.
Then when it needs to get the fuck out, it fires the fore RCS quads and kicks on max impulse power.
I dunno, I kinda think it could look cool if done right.

My favourite beauty shot in Trek '09 was the Big E rising up out of a cloud on thrusters.

Dude you never go full burn in atmo
But yeah this could work
Oh and Bounts my fave beauty shot from any of the films was 1701-A framed by the Moon early in Final Frontier. All I ask is a tall ship...

Just think of it as Kirk hallucinating.
I like it though, it's campy and odd, like the series was.

				FUCKING EXACTLY
The whole thing is a dream that starts when they go to bed in Yosemite and ends when Spock busts out a lute solo at the end

				Vista Luna
The whole scene felt grounded in reality to me; with the three of them having to return from shore leave unexpectedly, it was clear that they were having to go back to
work... But in spite of all the bullshit, Kirk loves his job. Lucky bastard.

I prefer to think of it as Shatner hallucinating about being a competent director lol
But really, for all its flaws, I think it was a good film overall
Not nearly as bad as any of the TNG abominations

				Woah dude.
First contact was at least passable as a fun movie, which is more than most can say about V.

actually yeah, I realised that today while thinking about it
Marina was acting so drunk she was slipping into her natural accent
Which is rather boner-inducing to my ears
