The whole fucking media is playing the "it must be his PTSD or TBI!!!!" card because there's no way an American godking Soldier would ever do that because he's a psychopathic cunt. That's been my experience too. And the guys I know on active duty are if anything, less willing to see him get out alive.

Well, Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity existed long before this ever happened, so if it was just the media releasing statements by his defense team then I wouldn't see an issue with it, as NGRI would seem to be the logical defense to use. And he is entitled to a defense, after all.

Everybody else trying to use it to excuse him just comes across as apologist though, unless again they're the usual "legal experts" and they're discussing what the likely defense tactics would be.

And yes, there does seem to be some kind of meme or whatever that a good defense against accusations of racism is to claim to be a minority, thus you cannot be racist. I don't think she's wrong there, I have seen it before (lol anecdotal evidence?).

It is telling that some articles I read were like "YO THE DUDE WAS WHITE AND HE TOTES SHOT A BLACK KID!" then later went on to describe him as hispanic. then some article I read today...I think on Y! News described him as - wait for it - a "white hispanic" it really feels like, even if he's not racist, he's going to be made racist by the media. Of course, I expected nothing less. I heard the 911 calls and I have no doubt the guy was NOT acting in self defense at this point; we'll see what shakes out over time.
