wow really. i had no idea

i read the old Iron Man comics a while back and boy are their asians pretty lulzy

but you know, even with his Fu Manchu looks, the Mandarin is a pretty cool villain. He's smart, feared by whole governments, a builder of orbital death lasers, and can KARATE chop Iron Man's armor through sheer strength.

I kinda hope that Iron Man 3 manages to have him not be terrible. Their habit of avoiding naming supervillains outright ought to help, but still.

way back when they tried to make xmen not terrible with the first movie

they set stuff up like a normal movie

they had bad things going on like a normal movie

and they have characters with names like a normal movie

and then there's this awful scene where captain picard introduces people by their amazingly stupid names and they put on their ridiculous outfits

it even has people say 'wow this is dumb' and 'whoa what a stupid name' but they have to do it because NERD SHOUT OUTS

because the best solution to distrust of mutants is to train them like soldiers and have them wear masks, right?

calling for sharia law "as a base" in a muslim country is sort of like using english common law as a base in anglo and colonial countries

sharia is considered by the west in much the same way americans view SOCIALISM, generally ignorant with plenty of good examples of bad association

yeah, but they're different enough that quick n dirty analogies, as favoured at teo don't really work

indonesia and malaysia also have sharia law as a base

and plenty of countries have sharia as a system for family and civil mediation and stuff

Maybe it's just my kneejerk reaction to playing world cop. I mean, I'm going to be pretty bitter if we helped replace a terrible man with a set of equally or more terrible men.
