Jesus what a fucking trainwreck. It's not that I even think there's any kind of "formal" old boys club, it's that I think that people in that thread, intentionally or otherwise said stupid things and came to dumb conclusions. And fgalkin acted like a fucking tool.

Yet when they were called on it, themselves or others in positions of authority have backed them up.

I can see it now. It'll be a few months from now, Shep will post something over the line, the thread will turn into a shitstorm that attracts a bunch of people, and one guy makes the mistake of yelling about how Shep's only getting away with it because he's been around since forever. Boom, Mike bans everyone in the thread, Shep gets off free and clear (or maybe just gets de-modded or w/e).

See, I don't have a problem with making Shep a mod because he went to prison. It has nothing to do with the board. I have a problem with making him a mod because he's a despicable human being on the board. But to be fair I've never seen hum use or abuse his powers as a moderator so it's not a big deal to me anymore.

This "everyone deserves a second chance" argument is worthless anyway. One's "right" to a second chance depends on just how badly you performed with the first one.
