Fat people aren't scum, they may have made bad choices but that doesn't mean we should dehumanize them.

You know, that's clued me in to an issue I've had with SDN for years but never been able to pinpoint.

The entire board is encouraged, formed even, to dehumanize and belittle people and that sets us at odds. Republicans are I'M A JUGGALO WOOP WOOP and a danger to society, the religious are all fanatical zeolots, brown people are all terrorists, Star Trek fans are brain damaged.

What does this get us?

I live in a rural area, very rural. There's a lot of hostility towards the "other" whatever that might be.

Ironically, when I lived in an urban are it was the same, just the other was different.

Republicans as in the elected variety or just your average dude on the street? The elected variety I'd put more stock into being I'M A JUGGALO WOOP WOOP and dangerous to society, but your average Republican isn't so bad. I disagree with them on basically everything, but whatever. Live and let live, eh mang?
