Judged the Octos debate today. Huge deal for me. On a panel with a two-time national champion and one of the smartest people in the activity. Huge recognition but it's given me mixed feelings.

I fly economy regularly, I do cross-country trips once every two months or so and I've never been outside economy. I'm used to it, and I also
love air travel and am pretty thin, so it's not bad, but First Class was truly amazing.

I got offered a full-time contract. Hurray! Now to find a way to politely decline and fuck off back to civilization.

I've found that leaving a fresh turd on the desk along with a name badge is the best way.

The way some of the guys are being vaguely dismissive in the "did you learn about rape" thread is kinda disconcerting to me. I was happier with the uncomfortable feeling I was getting by a bunch of nerdy guys arguing over which sex object was the best female character in video games :L

I started a thread in SLAM wondering if anyone else wasn't taught about rape in high school because I don't necessarily believe that those clownshoes motherfuckers at Steubenville knew what they were doing was rape (not an excuse at all).

All the stuff where people just go "welp it should be common sense not to rape I mean you'd have to be an idiot not to know" and leaving it at that just seems a bit disconcerting to read. Dismissing any sort of problem or way to improve it just to feel superior and all that.

"I get that you're probably one of these social construction types"
"Now, if you want to debate whether or not said facts are true, go find an evolutionary psychologist to embarrass you in public."
Mind fucking blown

GRRRRRR!!!!!!!!! I fucking hate it when people try to use common sense as an argument!
The only things that count as truly common sense are things on the level of "water is wet" or "fire is hot".

The best part is that if you remove the social aspect of it, studies show that men and women don't have different levels of aggression and all that anyway. Could social stereotypes possibly affect behavior, and thus changing the ideas can help fix issues from the warped stuff we have? No of course not boys will be boys.

Its funny because his idea of teaching boys they're basically just sexual predators with a veneer of civility (but this is totally normal and fine) is way worse than whatever the hell he's complaining about.

I think he's trying to pin everything ever on sexual denial by conservative religious morality or something.

Yeah, just so everyone else gets to enjoy it:

One, your opinion is worth dick. Two, I specifically said that biological factors are a facilitator of behavior and not necessarily a cause. Three, you frivolously dismissed several ideas because, what, you didn't like them? Who can tell?
You're embarrassing yourself. Please stop writing posts that, on review of this thread, make it look like I pick on the mentally handicapped in my spare time.
