I'm pretty sure VLC infringes on a bunch of patents
of course, it's based in communist france where software patents aren't recognised by the courts
but that's probably why it got pulled from iphones

Just sayin :v

What's sad is my tv can handle mkv but my iPad can't
Ps my tv is about as smart as a toaster
Yeah. I've been having problems with my TV and MKV files. I think it's the HDD I am using, though. I started watching the Fountain and it stopped. I was getting into it and then BAM! it exits back to the navigation screen. So I popped it on my thumb drive and it plays flawlessly.

best part is nerds complaining about the spirit of the law as if that meant jack and shit

I'll find an app for you to use, Phant. I wish MX Player was on iTunes for you. It's amazing.

Try this: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/peregrin ... 90130?mt=8

I'm not sure if it works on the iPhone, though.

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, the average American produces about 4.4 pounds (2 kg) of garbage a day, or a total of 29 pounds (13 kg) per week and 1,600 pounds (726 kg) a year. This only takes into consideration the average household member and does not count industrial waste or commercial trash.
I would be interested in how much of that 4.4 pounds of trash is recyclable/gets recycled, or is stuff like food that will break down. Everything i've thrown out today was either recyclable or a pizza crust.

Oh absolutely but saying "4.4 lbs of garbage" without any real breakdown doesn't mean much to me. It's sort of like how "experts" say you need to drink seven thousand 12 oz glasses of water (exaggeration for the sake of emphasis) every day without accounting for the fact we get some water from our food and other beverages.

no i recall vlc saying they were pulling the app because the app store and apple conflicted with their ideology or some shit

so it's pretty much their own stupidity

according to the article procured by zod, master of google, it's because some apple store DRM conflicts with the GPL that vlc is licensed under
IIRC, in order to comply with the gpl apple would have to release the source code on their DRM

so yeah politics

and as far as i'm concerned their strict adherence to and reverence for gpl is just their ideology getting in the way of putting out a good product

i'm not big on ideology even in my politics

if it works, it works

if it doesn't, adapt to the system or find another solution

they didn't adapt, they took their ball and went home

maybe one day people will learn that the letter of the law is just as if not more important than the so-called spirit of the law

Straha wrote:How many times will there be a thread on that place where someone asks "If people do things that are immoral, isn't that a problem with them and not the moral system they used?"
i decided to read ur posts in here

it took me like years to realize things were diff than what i believed (and the process is still ongoing, as of course it must always be)

and i already believed the truth deep in my heart and just needed my brain to catch up

so prolly 1,000,000 times lol

btw

"That is the key problem thou."

i hate it when people do this because i lex it as "thou" like the old timey shakesperian second person pronoun

and it doesn't parse and i have to read the fucking sentence over again to make sense of it

(same with "loose" btw; i just expect people to get it wrong, so when i see it, i feel the need to double check the context and see if they used the wrong word)

double btw

"And a system of morality that can only exist in the mind of the philosopher no mater how perfect and internally consistent is quite pointless."

why is it i so often feel people on the other side of internet debates are just talking into a mirror????

You know, things (mostly projects and stuff) are going so well that I'm starting to wonder if success is going to my head.

Would a more arrogant Questor be (A) Entertaining or (B) Annoying?

Why can't it be both?

But you are a pretty nice dude in person it would be kind of a shame if you got all smug maybe.

I don't think it's likely, I've just had a pretty darn good week.

You ever have a period of time where everything seems to work out right? It's addicting.

True, true, but as a pessimist I know it can't last forever. Which is a nice benefit to that trait, which technically makes me optimistic about being pessimistic.

Of course it can't last forever. I don't expect it to last past next week, honestly, but I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

I don't know, maybe the endorphins from the extra exercising/losing weight are messing with my personality. I'm normally not this cheerful/energetic.

Oh wait maybe you were referring to my aborted vacation attempt.

No I was not able to travel as some good news came up that kept me here at home for the weekend. So I went to Dana Point, which turned out awesome.

DF: I thought you mentioned taking a trip to Seattle? EDIT: Asked and answered.

Jovi: That's awesome.

Both: Definitely do lunch. We totally forgot about the avengers meet up we suggested.
