After the reorganization of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, the new Galactic Empire only allowed bacta to be produced on Thyferra, which was then stockpiled on Bespin.

At some point, Emperor Palpatine had the chemical sequence for bacta stored at his stronghold on Wayland with the possible intention being the development of a weapon designed to neutralize the properties of the compound. However, his scientists never developed a weapon and the sequence remained stored on Wayland. When the Yuuzhan Vong War gripped the galaxy, the Yuuzhan Vong conquered the planet Wayland where Shapers managed to analyze the bacta formula whereupon they created a virus that targeted the alazhi plant on a genetic level. This was in order to create a bio-weapon designed to kill anyone who was treated by bacta. However, their plans were thwarted by Klin-Fa Gi along with Uldir Lochett as well as his crew.[3]
bacta is simply too stupid to actually treat seriously

like, apparently you can drink it and it works just as well

it's called

bactade

fuck the EU
is it really any more ridiculous than dermal regenerators

yes

look at that quote

see bespin in there? remember how lando said they were too small to be noticed by the mining guild and the empire?

guess what, motherfuckers! bespin is one of the most important resource centers in the galaxy!!

also, machines are a bit better than magical bacterial cultures mixed in bug spit which you can apply topically anywhere on the body, inject, or ingest to get the exact same effect

a bit

Boba Fett is strong silent man, like nerds he internalizes his pain. Bringing him back was a great way to sell novels that should have been used for ass paper.

Side note: I'd highly encourage everyone to read the new Zahn book "Choice of One" since it alludes to an interesting insight to Endor and what Thrawn would have done had he been there.
talk about art and win because he's Zahn's self insert character

[analretentive]My copy of the novelization says it's bacta, but it also says it's a gelatinous red fluid rather than the clear, watery substance we see in the movie. Therefore, by means of higher canon, we can conclude that it's not bacta.[/ar]

In other news, why the fuck would you need a magical fluid that, as I recall, is in short supply for the rebels, when you can treat him with warm water? Like ya'll, and I, had assumed was the case.

Gotta over complicate everything. Like how everything in SW has an extensive backstory, rather then just being "random citizen flees Cloud City on advice of the Administrator."

no his face got messed up in a car accident

oh

Luke got some nasty scratches but honestly he'd have been more fucked if he was attacked by an ornery polar bear

he collapsed from the cold

that's why Han put him inside the Tauntaun sleeping bag

Well it smacked him but he had the energy and mental capacity to fight back. His feet were apparently frozen into the cave ceiling (thats what I got out of the scene), which would present a serious risk of losing his feet from his boots being soaked. And he collapsed in the snow outside the cave. If the temps are anything like here in the winter, your looking at serious injury within minutes.
