Ford and I have often mused about how having SDN as a powerful influence in our formative teenage years was in retrospect a negative force on our development as functional human beings. The ideas and attitudes espoused by SDN, especially the angry smug "i am smarter than everyone else" really doesnt translate into success in the workplace, friendships or love.

And yet in SDN world these attitudes are normalized, even enshrined, and anyone with more normal attitudes is deliberately othered.

No, it makes perfect sense. People who act like that in person are extremely unpleasant to deal with and lots of people will just go into autopilot if you act like that.
