I liked it...for the look, anyway. I know it was horribly behind the times tech-wise, but I'd totes buy a car that looked like the CV on the outside but was fairly modern under the hood.

Ford and I have often mused about how having SDN as a powerful influence in our formative teenage years was in retrospect a negative force on our development as functional human beings.
yeah
godfuckthatplace
it doesn't really cripples you, it just becomes a crutch for cripples, an anchor for human lameboats
kinda like tvtropes in a way, but of different kind of pedantic fat nerding
And yet in SDN world these attitudes are normalized, even enshrined, and anyone with more normal attitudes is deliberately othered.
i like how before it got really bad a lot of those intellectular crucibloid boardest smarts on the internets were all 'baaaw forum becoming social circle for casual talk not extreme hardcore brain discussions'
what the fuck
i guess it was that kind of attitude on part of the fatsos that fermented the schism that, you know, led to chiller cooler folks just thinking that they were a bunch of slugmen high on high fructose corn syrup

Well like, I have only just entered the full time workforce, doing a real job and like, yeah I'm coping fine with working all day and shit. Like the actual full time work element is no dramas.
But well I was thinking about the stuff like workplace Enviroment and attitudes and expectations and working with people who are really different to you in age, experience, attitudes.
And like ove sorta epihanised tonight that The lofe mechanisms which served me in the past, which tbh do mirror mechanisms of SDN aren't serving me well now in the workplace and intact are actively harming my success. I received my first performance review today and the issues raised, well I see how people arrived at them and how they are issues for them (and therefore me) surprise me. Not because they are especially Surprigjg but just they...conscious raise me (derp) to my own failings, alot of which mirror SDN.
Words like blunt, not intending to be rude it could be seen that way and shit. And yeah it surprises me because emotionally I never feel like "hey I should be rude to this person and will be" or even "I don't like this person this will effect my behavior" it's more i am just rude and abrasive I'm my mannerisms unintentionally, at least for the expectations of the new enviroment of full time work.
Look this has been written on phone at 0300 after a week of night shift so it makes no sense.

As fart as the book goes, well, it's an interesting read if maybe not a good story. It's still a very influential piece of Sci-i, so, yeah... still good to read were shits come from.
Contrast with "Stranger in a Strange Land", from the same author.

i like the book because it's an interesting piece and is very influential
especially in Japanese sci-fi
however I know it's kind of a odd story overall
and I think the big thing is there's not a lot to it as Heinlein never returned to that story
But I don't agree with how the movies, the first of which was never intended to be a SST movie has colored people's perception of the book
kinda like Robotech
