I'm still baffled that sarevok didn't get his ass banned for that considering how much of a hard-ass stance they've taken on plagiarism before.

Yeah but that's for academic stuff, the board in general is pretty hostile to copyright and shit. I can totally see a "who cares, its pac-man" discussion.

They've banned people over plagiarizing reviews too. Not just academic shit.

Yeah but it's Sarevok and it was ridiculously stupid. It wasn't like we were the ones being lied to, we were the ones he complained to.

Well, beyond 'MS doesn't aggressively offer it'. :)

Ando since you're not a pirate where do you even get malware FROM?
I just wanted to address this here, but amusingly I've pretty much never gotten a virus from piracy.

The few times I have gotten a virus though it's because someone hacked a legitimate website I was visiting and used their flash ads as attack vector, and those don't require you to click or really confirm anything.

You might say that he'd do well to learn those lessons the hard way, but it's investment money he's playing with, and apparently no oversight...

I'm now running MSE, but mang it was - I won't say difficult, but definitely not easy to find and dl that via Microsoft's insane web design.

you mean like all those other drivers they push out through windows update right

even a fucking popup telling the 99% of the world who are normal that mse even fucking exists would help

but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

and rather than your I'M A JUGGALO WOOP WOOP reason the explanation is almost certainly the microsoft departmentatl competition and lack of cooperation that plagues all their other projects

Oh sure, I agree that MS are bad at promoting it. IIRC I only heard about it through word-of-mouth (which actually is the best form of promotion anyway, but not something that MS directs other than making a good product)

But as for simply finding it? Took me like two seconds.

number one hit on google, giant 1/3 screen ad saying download here

i guess you're right :V

given its so effortlessly effective and better than the reams of stupid crap fat people install or recommend others install, i just wish they put it out there a bit more

but cross-promotion has never been microsofts strength

I looked in Windows updates and security centre - nothing.

It was a Google to find the mse page.

But you cannot download from there.

It's like 5 links deep through sidebars and seemingly unrelated drop down menus to get to the installer download . Terrible web design.

windows update will push you nvidia updates and office updates but not probably the most essential home computing ms product for the last five years

cause i bet the guys on the windows team hate the guys on the mse team
