Lament 2: Cry Harder
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
And here's number three ! Around 30 seconds, this time.
I'm getting tired of re-setting my alarm-clock... This is starting to become annoying.

So, after action report.
We had between 5 and 6 power-cuts (or maybe even more) during the night in a span of two to three hours. It fucked up the garage's door, and we'll have to call the repairmen so that they can re-program the damn beast (it seems like the safety battery that keep the thing programmed is dead).
As I suspected and if my sources are trustworthy, it was a problem at the local transformer station. A defective coil it seems. I don't have more details.

My "source" was a classmate who IIRC work at the company tasked to ensure the distribution of electrical power to everyone, and he was just toying with me, telling me lies because heh ! if you want serious informations you don't ask it to you classmates on facebook, right ?
Several of them even told me "NO ONE CARES", with a number of "likes" pilling on their useless commentaries.
Fuckers.

Shroom you should just post yours because I think no one has your pseudonym
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
flashlight kinda makes sense if you consider historically the battery didn't last long so you would like only flash the light on briefly to conserve power
i guess torch makes sense too since it serves the same purpose but british english is some bastardized nonsense. american english is the one true form

Zaklamp ("pocket light") in Dutch. Why can't none of you get it right?
People in glass trousers shouldn't shit bricks.

Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
the thing that makes torch weird in my head is that i associate the word 'torch' less with 'light' and more with 'fire'adr wrote:flashlight kinda makes sense if you consider historically the battery didn't last long so you would like only flash the light on briefly to conserve power

flashlight's a bit funny but at least it has the word 'light' in it and 'flash' is also largely associated with light
now, lamp or lantern, these words i would have no problem with associating with a handheld electric light generator.

We call those Fleshlights over here.Oxymoron wrote:We also have "lampe de poche" => "pocket lamp"
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
As much as I realize the police almost certainly have better things to do with their time on nights like these (like say patrolling for DUIs) I really, really wish they'd spare some officers/deputies to start locking up the people shooting off illegal fireworks all night.
