Plus the art in that game is so nice, stylised and the textures look "painted". It serves a purpose of hiding some lost fidelity as they want bigger levels, but it works so well.
Does it have muskets?

You have a pistol. Singular. That shoots one little ball at a time. And makes a helluva lot of flame and smoke when it does.

Yeah. The tutorial mission wasn't all that hot, but once I got to the first proper mission... Amazing. Plenty of alternate routes, some dependent on what abilities you pick and whatnot. I think I've bumbled around in that mission for 5 hours now, and I still haven't entirely explored the area. Could've probably finished the job 3 hours ago, but there's always a rune, charm or something else that gets me to explore a little more.

So, I went looking for Dishonored today, but it was €70 and Sales happened, so I got four new games for the 360 :

- Dead Space
- Bullestorm
- Spec Ops : The Line
- Binary Domain

Which one should I start with ? :prof:

Bulletstorm is hilarious. I'd start there.

Spec Ops...for me its an intensely emotional story. Pretty horrific actually.

Hotline Miami is great. Really great. Think of it as an ultraviolent Super Meat Boy with a bit of randomness (random weapon drops and some guard pathing) with the look of a Mega Drive game and the soundtrack from Drive.

Wow, going back to Reach after not playing any Halo games for like a year made me remember how frustrating it can be real quick.

I was doing this daily challenge where you have to get 10 headshot kills in a single multiplayer game. Five minutes in, I was ready to hurl my controller at the screen, fifteen minutes after that I was seriously debating rage-quitting via hurling my Xbox out my bedroom window.

Halo is not a relaxing experience for me.

I'm really enjoying asscreed3. They did a lot of things with the combat, controls, and interface that required a bit of re-learning but have made the game a lot less frustrating to play.

Los, you're playing asscreed, right? I'm interested in any thoughts you have formed about it.

You're the only other person I know playing it. :D

Literally my favourite part of Asscreed 3 is Ratonhnhake:ton getting a message from Paul Revere and saying 'please tell Paul Revere that I do not have the time to deal with his revolution' (paraphrased).

I haven't met anyone yet that doesn't love the naval combat. I like the new controls for the most part as well but the menus are fuuuuucked.

My favorite bit is when Washington is talking to Connor about Bocce ball and Connor just flips out at him for being a coward.

In Iroquoian languages, it means that the preceding vowel is to be pronounced as a long vowel. The question mark that may pop up denotes a glottal stop (the pause in uh-oh). Disregard, Mohawk glottal stops are written as apostrophes.

I like that vaults are finally in the game, and the control scheme is a lot smother for 90% of actions, though it did require me to retrain my asscreed reflexes.

Yeah, I love the naval combat, too. I'm surprised at how entertained I am by it, honestly.

Now that I've had some time with the menus, I don't find them quite as fucked--I mean, actually using them required some adapting, but once I got that down their function was pretty smooth. The problem, of course, is the total show-stopping nature. Bringing them up for any reason is incredibly laborious.
So maybe I'm a sucker, but my two favorite parts of the game story-wise right now are that 1) I got suckered by the intro, hook line and sinker, and had a nice laugh when I got the 'apples' achievement. 2) I just got to the part where connor and haythem have met and are starting to work together, and I'm loving the interaction. "And what of you?" "Don't question me, just do what you're told!"
As an aside, I'm kind of impressed by what they're able to do with the acting in cut-scenes. The facial expressions and eye movements are extremely well done and pretty damn natural.

Random aside: It took me forever to figure out where the hell you pull out those little daggers that get flurried around constantly while you fight doods. I'm now about 90% sure that the daggers are actually your wrist blades, and that one of their standard features now is the ability to palm them out of their mechanism and put them back on the fly. Pretty swanky!

Random disappointment: "Dagger" and "Tomahawk" animations are exactly the same, which is hilarious when you leap at a guy, and you over-hand chop his face, and blood explodes everywhere, but your blade never actually touched him, because that's a tomahawk animation, and you're holding a dagger.

Bugs that are hilarious:
-One time I was launched 30 feet into the air after grappling a guard, then kind of danced around for a while in combat-shimmy, then I got ragdolls to the ground and took a bunch of falling damage
-My horse got stuck on a rock once, and kept jittering back and forth in spastic time-space displacement until I went far away enough for him to despawn
-Twice now I've had NPCs on escort quests get stuck on logs, losing all ability to take an 8 inch step to the ground, forcing checkpoint reloads

Bugs that are annoying:
Sometimes one of my weapons just goes away, and I have to go to a general store to re-equip it.

I'm having the same problem. Apparently it's just a case of the servers not catching it and can be fixed by replaying any chapter.

So I started playing The Old Republic now that it's F2P. And honestly it's a little meh. I mean I suppose the story choices and stuff may or may not set it apart the further along it goes, but right now it just feels too much like World of Star Warscraft with more dialogue branches and voice acting.

It certainly isn't helped that EA/BioWare have really, really bullshitted the F2P thing. You only get 5 "Medical Probes" which can revive you on the spot for the entire length of your character - unless you pay for it in the cash shop or sub up. Otherwise? Bullshit MedCenter which makes you have to run back like WoW. Oh and when you hit Level 10 they reduce your XP gain unless you buy XP boosts in the cash store or sub. And you can't even motherfucking use the sprint command (unless you buy it with cash or at Level 15 with in-game Credits) which makes all the "run back and forth" questing really, really tedious. Well, moreso than it otherwise would be.

It's also kind of stupid with the Standard MMO Convention of shit newbie gear. Here I am, an Elite Republic Trooper just assigned to the Best of the Best special forces squad. So naturally when they send me to a warzone I show up completely without armor and wearing a long-sleeve shirt and pants. Uh huh...

Honestly I think I'll stick with STO. As annoying as lockboxes are, their F2P isn't totally gimping you with petty bullshit meant to annoy you into a sub or at least cash store purchases. And I far, far prefer their uniform system so you don't have to look like a lowbie scrub when you just start the game. Sure the armor and kits do get more impressive looking when you level but they do manage to look like respectable armor, and actually showing them is entirely optional and most people don't even bother. So you can look like a respectable Starfleet Officer right out of the gate.

I am getting one of those rebate debit cards relatively soon-ish though. Maybe I'll play TOR with their money for a sub to see if the various storylines (which is what everyone likes to rave about with that game) will actually make it worthwhile to either A) sub for reals or B) put up with the nickel-and-dime F2P bullshit.

So F2P might not be the saving grace for the game most thought it would be. I'd better finish those class story lines as quickly as possible if the game's still going under.

I was considering going back F2P, but some of the restrictions seemed pretty vindictive. Seemed like none of the guys working on the game wanted to go F2P, were forced by higher ups, and decided to take out their frustrations on anyone who dared not pay them to play their magnum opus.

I think a lot of the problem was that instead of giving extra features to people who subscribed, they didn't really add anything and then locked a lot of really basic features behind their paywall. I mean, if you are not a subscriber, you need to pay real money for basic shit like expanding your inventory slots, using extra quickbars, or wearing gear above a certain quality. They locked F2P players out of a lot of the QoL improvements they had over WoW, and then kept piling on the restrictions until the QoL was far far worse.

Doesn't help that the engine is total shit, to the point that it was a breath of fresh air when I went back to WoW and actually had my attacks trigger as soon as I pressed the button.
