This reminds me of a learning disability we covered in class that usually went undiagnosed for years because the children would learn to mimic the sounds of common phrases and responses without understanding them, parroting the sounds at the appropriate times in a social setting. Eventually someone would engage them in a deeper conversation, and the results would sound like what BO just posted. I wish I remembered the name of that condition.
