Kind of ironic that Spacebattles.com, mostly avoiding the arrogant stupidity and cognitive dissonance that led to the downfall of SD.Net (like Stas Bush wishing Year Zero upon American suburbanites to make the world better), is getting hard to go on due to the sheer volume of traffic and its higher profile on the net attracting the unwanted attention of copyright holders.

Is it just me, or does it seem like Spacebattles has been down more than usual lately? I wonder if its servers are housed anywhere in the U.S. where there's really shitty weather.

It seems to be in that near-nonfunctional state pretty much all day now. It starts working right at midnight (I've taken to doing anything I want to do on there just before I go to bed) and when I check at 11 in the morning it's already nearly unuseable and as far as I can tell stays like that all day from there.

i love it when you get some commercial shitware that comes with a .htaccess

so

1) they assume you are using shitpache
2) they assume .htaccess is enabled
3) they assume .htaccess is still the proper name for that thing

and despite offering this file

4) they STILL assume your directory index option is set to index.php instead of specifying that in the file


in this case only one of those assumptions were true for my setup
