it can be said that a society in which such "ideal libertarian" work-place environment competition would actually work, is one which would have no use of the concept of employment, as it would require that employees are not dependent on the employers to survive

ie. work would be a voluntary activity and "employers" could at best be organisers

but this would of course undermine the laissez-faire capitalist system libertarians claim to love

that anti-war campaign ad was really good

regardless of the rest of his platform, it's damn refreshing to hear someone wants to be president and doesn't believe in waging perpetual war

it's pretty much the main thing that sets him apart from everyone else

if we could stop waging wars and playing world cop for a few months we'd shave off a good chunk of our national deficit

That shit seems to be deeply rooted in how American's view themselves though. Like how can they be the most powerful country in the world and not exercise it?

Though to me, it looks like the actions of a failing empire. Lashing out in an effort to maintain relevance.

yes. this is why i can argue for him with sincerity

indeed.

i've been running with this kinda of idear for my imaginary world. i say it's both libertarian and socialist at the same time

me <3 the guaranteed income idea more than just about anything else

but recently i've been going with less and less govt and see how much i can enable by saying "well the baseline is guaranteed so anything above that is totally hands off". like i recently thought about how to take my personal belief abotu debt and put it in theri civ

that is, the moral person ought makes gifts not loans. if debt exists he ought to forgive it generously

and the government here is some big silly moral person kind of thing so it would too

how can u get banks in there?

my answer: the FREE MARKET and RECIPROCITY BASED MORALITY business

so basically if you go to the bank and ask for a loan gift they can axe you to give them a gift back at some point later. maybe even a bigger gift back, and if you say "nah thx tho" they can just not give it to you in the first place

here's the thing: if you lie and say "yeah totally i'll gift u back" and then don't

the bank can't sue u for ti. they just have to eat the loss

well can banks exist in such a place? i still say yah..... that's where CREDIT REPORTS come in!!!111!11111 it goes both ways: if you gift the bank some dough they'd better have good credit to gift you back when you write a check too.

and i seriously think that'd be workable. and then the gov't can regulate the credit reporting system to exercise bank (or contract in general; i say all contracts can be done the same way) policy without officially recognizing the concept of debt of contractual obligations

free market contract enforcement through TRANSPARENT MARKETS

btw how do you deal with a bank deciding to hire someone to kick your ass for not paying? the same way you deal with any assault: bust those motherfuckers on the violent felony charge. it ain't anarchy.

Would it be out of line to say that Nitram lost all credibility re Obama because of his insufferable apologism over the past four years?

No. He would not. It almost happened during this past budget crisis.
They would not. I know this because it was my legislature for over a decade.

Oh fuck. What have I done?

I got involved in the 'Tar thread.

I wonder if I should use examples from people I know who do mercenary work for mining companies in PNG to demonstrate just how counterproductive the RDA approach is when compared to its obvious analog?

But then I suppose there's the problem of Cesario going "not the same, those are black third world savages, motivations blue mystical space elves who cannot be reasoned with!"

its amusing to contrast the amazingly counterproductive and illegal stuff that goes on in png with the situation in au where you can literally build a business around bringing native title holders and mining corps together for mutual profit

Finally, someone brought up Texas v. White in my secession argument. I expected that in counter-post #1.

I like my Battle LA analogy. They tried to make contact repeatedly and we shot at them and ignored them.

Therefore, they are totally justified in wiping us out to get the water they need.
