there is no evidence the world won't end because of stricter copyright laws

gentlemen you may now freak the hell out
I must have missed the memo where overheated rhetoric is considered a perfectly adequate substitute for a cogent point.

what's funny is that the positive argument that the law will lead to the end of the world cannot actually be proven without assuming some really dubious premises

but the negative can be shown to be highly likely by induction, ie. no previous law has caused the end of the world, copyright has small effects on the environment, democracy existed before the internet, humanity survived the bronze age collapse etc. etc.

one could argue that anything changes the world as we know it, or at least a small part of it

one could argue that, but one would be a bit of a prick.

Throw not being able to prove a negative in that fuckers face and do the turnaround making him prove that it is.
He would be better served to inform Alyeska that the burden of proof is on him to prove that this hilarious bill is doosmday incarnate.

No. But people[/i] heartless jerks have told me I lack imagination. I was hoping for insight. Maybe Red has some kind of idea, I dunno.

PS: Welcome to the herd, Flagg. I knew you were just in denial this whole time.

You CAN prove a negative. If I told someone that there are no apples in my refrigerator and I was asked to prove that, all I have to do is allow him to examine my refrigerator to see that none are present.

PS There are negative proofs in math.

the problem is most of the time people want negative proof of something that's unreasonable
