my tree is definitely deceased :-(

actually it died probably months ago, its needles started fallign off in the fall. i just couldn't bring myself to dig it up; i didn't want to accept that i had failed this innocent tree that i adopted this last arbor day

looks like it got some kind of fungal infection. fucked up the top layer of the soil and there's white stuff growing on the ex-trunk

under the microscope it looks super stringy, bizarre stuff


poor tree didn't have much of a chance. i took it in hoping to save its life but made no difference. all i can do is study it and hopefully don't let it happen next time

i'm keeping its small body outside with by spare tires until i can come back to it later for the complete autospy (plantspy?)

poor thing was barely 6 months old




after discarding the bad soil i rotated the rest and let the spider plant move into the giant pot, as it had outgrown its small pot and it was broken by the babies anyway (not beyond use; i just taped it up and it was fine but eh)

this plant is doing pretty well. it's quite old; i've had it for over two years and my mother had it for a long time before that

i hope i didn't make a grave error by putting it in the other pot
