Re: Trek Thread
yeah it's one of those ships with the regular saucer, the engineering section on top, and one ample nacelle stuck on the bottom
maybe elevators going down is just more cinematic

The captain takes a turbolift down...to go to a shuttlebay...above the bridge?
Re: Trek Thread
Should install rollercoaster track out top of bridge
Re: Trek Thread
for all you know he took the turbolift to the transporter room so that he could be transported to the shuttlebay
8-)

Re: Trek Thread
The tactual rollercoSter track would improve observation of the enemy at a low, low cost

Re: Trek Thread
looking at the design of the kelvin i can sorta see how that would workCaptHawkeye wrote:The captain takes a turbolift down...to go to a shuttlebay...above the bridge?
you can't have the turbolift going straight there thanks to structural reasons

wait wait wait wait
so i don't remember the movie, help me out
are you describing a scene wherein we see the turbolift go down from the bridge? or one where we see a turbolift descend into the shuttlebay?
because the former makes sense. it's at the top of the saucer. you have to go down before you can go across and back up again.
the latter... doesn't make as much sense.

Captain the Mummy walks out of the bridge (which is clearly in the middle of the saucer) and says "hay george dee kirk ur captain"
gets into turbo lift. door closes
cut to turbo lift going down
gets out. walks up a short flight of stairs in

Considering that the ship was full of holes and had chunks of hull missing maybe he had to take a detour because the trubos were busted or the normal route to the shuttlebay was open to space?
maybe he just likes to make a dramatic entrance

Re: Trek Thread
So I watched ST2 - ST6 in the past few days. No TMP, though. I would say it's because I hate the uniforms and could never get past that, but really it's because HBO wasn't airing it alongside the others for whatever reason. Cinemax was, but I don't subscribe to them.
Anyway, 3 and 5 weren't really as bad as I had been led to believe. A little boring maybe? Okay, sure. But I'll be honest, I wasn't exactly blown away by TWoK, and people hail that as the greatest TOS movie ever.
And 4 is totally a Captain Planet episode, but with the TOS cast and a bigger budget.
Personally, my favorite was probably 6, although General Chang did get pretty goofy by spouting off those quotes to Kirk endlessly. I did like McCoy wondering when he'd shut up, though. That was boss.

Re: Trek Thread
Well all the good ones after 2 flow from it.
Re: Trek Thread
none of them are really good movies, though, and some aren't even good stand-alone stories
i mean i'd rather watch a new movie or brand that i have no idea about than re-watch any star trek movie
but then my brain isn't set to 'star trek fan' with the knob broken off so....
