It had a lot of fun elements to it, but some parts felt like they weren't really sure what to do except spam you with badguys.

look, conviction could have been better in many ways

starting with its makers recalling that it's a stealth game and not another cover shooter with a gimmicky 'i win' button

The I Win button was more of an "oh shit" button for me. I targeted guys who were likely threats, then if it went to hell I hit the button and tried to rectify my mistake.

The only game I've seen during the E3 presentations that actually looks good is Rayman Legends.

you can do that

more likely you find a room with 4 guards, pull out your fn-five seven and shimmy to somewhere they're all in los, and clear the joint instantly

thought it was pretty funny that the halo trailer looked more like it was made for a horror film than an fps

anyway isn't sam fisher closer to 60 than 50 now, jesus get a new protagonist and have him be a supporting character like you said

my first thought for the trailer was it was a prequel or something since he was shooting arabs en masse along with having zero grey hairs or wrinkles

nietz everyone generally agrees ct was the best one, but would you say pandora tomorrow or double agent were the worst

they were both balls but i feel like da was more of a disaster due to how fucked the 360 and ps3 versions were

which may speak to its quality

I vaguely remember from yesterday's coverage that the new Splinter Cell is a reboot to paraphrase, 'in the vein of Christopher Nolan's Batman movies'. I can't give you who exactly said it as I was reading Manual of Power: Infernals waiting for something more interesting to come on.

that's pretty bizarre since it's the same president from conviction and her speech is clearly a reaction to the events of that game

also if there's anything splinter cell needed it was a hardcore grimdark reboot after the happy go lucky sequence where fisher smashed grimsdottir's face into a metal tool cabinet and broke her nose

maybe they thought the other part where sam shot his literaly only friend in the face to maintain his cover was too uplifting

the bit where infernals gain mechanical bonuses by fixating on certain women and then tying them to traintracks/ trying to force them into marriage and creating elaborate deathtraps for their nemeses basically makes up for almost every other flaw in exalted

Would a full-sized Book of Swallowed Darkness alleviate the others? :v

PS: I wonder what's going on in the SDN E3 thread... oh wait...

I might have mentioned something to someone, if only because my curiosity was piqued.

And I might have recieved a response confirming that the poster in question has an IP which matches Colefail's last sockpuppet.

i find it more comical how butthurt he is about SW and how much of a persecution complex he's got

in other news, what the fuck is wrong with bobalot? can he not engage in a debate without going straight for a strawman? i mean holy shit

like that kids thing is amazing...it's not even a criticism of SW, FFS. The whole point is that SW has always had a darker side and that is arguably what makes it such a classic compared to your average piece of shitty pulp. I dunno bout you but my dominant memory of watching SW for the first time (I was 8, I think) was the dread conjured up by the ISD docking with the Tantive IV and then the crew getting slaughtered in the corridor. That appealed to me in the same way Roald Dahl books did...horrible people doing horrible things that could be considered totally inappropriate for children eventually getting their comeuppance. Saying 'oh man this shit is real like Deadwood' totally undersells the originals

the prequels, maybe not so much

Speaking of Wars I've been re-reading the X-Wing series

In the penultimate book, set just after the end of the Thrawn crisis, Wedge Antilles suggests that suspected WMDs are enough justification to attack a sovereign nation and kill its leader

What the fuck Stackpole

the stackpole books are shit, but the aaron alston wraith squadron series books was pretty sweet

the stand alone one he did though, starfights of adumar i think is the title, wasn't much chop, but it was way better than anything stackpole wrote

but really maybe the wraith squadron books look so good because almost the rest of the eu is horrible shit
