and control of all three Federal branches. I also see the Tea Party Wing of the GOP making subtantial gains in local and State elections.

4.Energy policy and actions percieved by most voters as absolutely
insane and harmful to them
5. Backing of the homosexual agenda most of the voters despise
6. Yo Yos surrogates and obvious backers rabid attack on Christianity
7. World economy showing no signs of a major recovery as long as the
EU fiscal disasters are not resolved.
etc., etc., etc.,

Now this is just me but I see HIS hand in this. I am beginning to think
God is still willing to Bless Amercia. Talk about unconditional love.

Native American Realpolitik

The only thing we've ever done wrong to the Native Americans was break treaties. Any treaty we signed, that is not dissolved with the consent of the tribe, should remain fully in force. If we later exterminated them without voiding the treaty, we should find their genetic code in someone and give them the treaty rights. The perfidy was that, for political reasons, the treaties were broken by politicians in the 19th century. That is the genuine black stain on American honour. If we have to give them a bunch of BLM and forest service land and fishing rights to make the treaties right, boo-hoo, it's our obligation. But the probity of the United States is not something lightly destroyed, and we should be making, no matter how costly, a concerted effort to go back through every treaty signed and make sure it is absolutely and rigorously followed and that land is returned in compensation for land seized, and rights under treaties restored. Breaking treaties was the Indians was a genuinely bad and immoral thing that needs to be corrected. The Feds own too much land anyway, we can do without some Forest Service and BLM properties.

Likewise, the tribes should always be treated more fully like the dependent protectorates that they are, by which I mean that, instead of buying them off with welfare, we should exempt them from even federal taxation and let them try American citizens in their own tribal courts when on tribal courts. They are American citizens themselves and their dual nature isn't going to make them disloyal; this is their land, and they love it, and their civilization has always been here. If we can't trust their courts, how can we trust our own? I believe measures which restore sovereignty and treaty rights to the Indian tribes are things that are better than any money we could give them, for it wold be returning their pride to them, and that will help their civilizations much more in the longer run.

Angry nostalgia

I know that many may disagree, for a variety of reasons, but I actually sort of agree with you Beastro. In a lot of ways, while far from ideal, the world that existed as a bubble burst in Sarajevo in 1914, was not that bad a place overall.

Oh I know, I don't have rose tinted glasses about the Belle Epoque, but I've always been sickened by rise of the Left that followed. Along with the butchers bill was all that took centuries to build in many lands that was irreparably destroyed, so many institutions.
