this was actually an email reply (the email had pictures and layout like a physical letter but nevertheless it was email, which is why i was surprised it took so long)

So I was watching Nostalgia Critic's Top 11 Simpsons Episodes, reminding me when it was still good. And he used the Mother Simpson song which got me all teary-eyed. And then I remembered when The Simpsons, in addition to being funny, still managed to show that it had actual heart. You know, like some of the best episodes of Futurama? (Poor Seymour... :whine: )

Seriously that's some beautiful and very sad music. Actually when I think about it, The Simpsons did sometimes have pretty good incidental music. Kinda surprising but yeah.

Yeah, the Simpsons used to be pretty great. Shame it gradually turned into a shambling zombie of a shell of what it once was.

i think a lot of the (relatively) recent episodes have been the bee's knees

it all depends who's on the writing team that season you dig

They retconned this so that
Seymour lived a long happy life with the time travel-clone of Fry and then when Bender came to assassinate Fry he accidentally fossilized Seymour
but I would agree that end to that episode is one of the single best moments of television ever concieved.

I hope I never see the episode/movie that happened in, because seriously that's pretty bullshit.

It's time to start building useful skills to ease the requirements for co-oping. I'll start Matlab this weekend.

Wicked thunderstorm over south side last night. Nothing has been able to wake me up in the 12 1/2 years I've lived in this house, not thunder, not fireworks, not cars crashing into fences, not fireworks or loud mufflers or gunshots. This storm woke me up. Thunder, hail, heavy rain, so many flashes it looked like day.

Few streets flooded nearby, plus the main east/west freeway in the south side. Probably a lot of basements too.

Most of the mods there are pretty OK in my experience, actually. Shep was the only guy I found really obnoxious, for burning down testing.

Or just quit without drama and let that place suffocate in its own metaphorical fat in peace
