i drove home from calgary last night as it seems everyone just assumed i was going to hang out with someone else and made their own plans

so i leave around 1230, and i can see a thunderstorm lighting up the sky ahead

and BAM wall of water, can't see the road or anything

doing 60 down the highway

hoping i don't lose track of the lines and drive into the ditch

all the while the sky is lighting up all around me

it was a pretty awesome experience

thunderstorms make you feel small

i pulled over in Red Deer to take a break from white-knuckle driving and to nap, the storm passed ahead and i ran into it again when I reached Edmonton

fortunately the rain was weaker (i think i caught the tail end) but the light show was still pretty cool

he said "security forces have detained a suspect"

and it made me lol a bit

we always say "security forces" and "detained" when referring to a "regime"

but to hear regular american cops referred to it is something i don't see every day

So I went to the ann arbor art fair today, and it was pretty fun. Despite that, walking around the U of M campus has made me rather melancholic. Seeing a bunch of normal college age kids makes me realize exactly how much time and money i've wasted by not focusing in school. Seven years i've been going to college now and I haven't gotten anywhere. I've changed my major three times, and now that I've finally figured out what I want to do with the rest of my life (Education) It just seems like I wasted too much time and now It's too late. Whenever I do finally get accepted to a full university, I'll be going with a bunch of goddamn teenagers. I spent seven years fucking around doing nothing and now I've officially wasted my youth.

Fuck it. I'm going out for some Jack Daniels. I need a goddamn drink.

Well that's the thing. I'm not sure I have grown up. All I know is that 25 is too fucking old to be where I am in my life, and that i'm tired of being the oldest person in all my goddamn classes.

your profs don't care that you're 25, the younger people in your classes either don't care or will consider it a plus since they'll assume you have slightly more life experience than most of their peers, there's no reason you should care

It's not so much how old I am, but the sheer amount of time I've fucking wasted. Yes, I've finally got a handle on the whole school thing. I'm not playing too many videogames, or drinking too much, or fucking around or shit. But when I look back at the sheer amount of time I've actually wasted doing those things, I wonder how I'll ever get anything done.
