HPCAlarity!
Re: HPCAlarity!
a likely possibility
I didn't know at the time, and was suckered by the promise of the concept
plus I had never read any kind of alt-hist story before
fact : I discovered SDN with TSW, and I liked Armaggeddon when I read it.

Re: HPCAlarity!

Re: HPCAlarity!
Well you learned your lesson, now fire them in the bin.
Re: HPCAlarity!
Burning books is against my ethics
plus I like to keep them, as some kind of remainder
of what I'm not sure though
Though if someone here wanted to read the books I'd be okay with mailing the package to them.

But I could always try something like that, yeah. It's true I live in a big academic city.

Nonetheless, Aaron, books are books, and I will not commit the Mortal Sin of destroying knowledge.
No.
Re: HPCAlarity!
I read four of them when TimothyC was distributing all of them via .txt files.
I wasn't good at picking good from bad writing, but by the end of Crusade I was like "fuck this."

Re: HPCAlarity!
but but
if I burn a book because I do not agree with its message
or even if simply by considering it "bad"
I'll be no better than them !

Re: HPCAlarity!
I also said to throw it out, not burn it.

Re: HPCAlarity!
I agree with you oxy
I know slippery slope is a fallacy, but I would feel deeply uncomfortable burning any books ever
even when it is 100% shit

Close enough.
Re: HPCAlarity!
let us never speak of this again
or not
feel free to throw that back to me anytime it would seem appropriate
so, anyway, there's a question I've been asking myself for a while... what's HPCA's stance on transexuality ?
I mean, I'm pretty sure they see any kind of transexual as weirdos, but do they see them as "weirdos to kill/maim/burn", or just "weirdos to ignore/look down upon" ?
