Yan just pisses me off
I feel slightly guilty for thinking this, but I think I'd throw him in a dumpster if I ever met him, just because it would feel like the right thing to do. Or maybe stuff him in a locker.

Re: Testing Chat Thread
i really need to finish my blog!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
but until then you all can suffer through the pain of SCROLLING PAST MY POSTS lololol
anyway lets get on with it
so i was talking about a guaranteed basic income yesterday and of course the response came up "isn't that a disincentive to work?" and i answered that it isn't much of one because it isn't (and i don't particularly care about bourgeois work incentive anyway).
but i realized a better retort last night. the real idea behind this is you don't think people deserve money if they don't work. basically. but consider this
one of my jobs is developing an app with the sole hope that Company X will buy it to maintain the control of "their" market
let's think about where this can go... if we fail, the app will be abandoned. if we succeed, the app will be killed. either way, nobody actually uses it.
what good is this? why does this deserve a salary but say, writing my bad science fiction doesn't? at least my bad sci fi has like two fans (including myself lolololol)
"because someone is willing to pay for it". but they pay for it only because they want to kill my job. not because the product is useful to them, but because they see it as a threat to their profit margin. isn't it pretty fucked up that a job that only exists because someone might want to kill it (some kind of corporate blackmail scheme lol!) deserves a salary
but a(n informal) job that provides a product a small handful of people might actually enjoy does not just because it isn't profitable enough to live off of?
(another one of the jobs i've done is similarly stupid. i was writing spam middleware. that app was useful to some people directly; it sold to some extent. but what is spam? advertisement. and what do advertisements do? a big part of it is creating demand. so the people pay to have the company manipulate them into wanting the company's other products... the whole thing is ultimately a useless drain on everything. except the capitalists' profits of course)
or of course another common example of useful things that don't get pay is raising childing and so many more. many things that clearly contribute don't get money while obviously parasitic, redundant or just plain useless jobs make money. a lot of fucking money in the case of many of them.
so really even aside from my dislike for the whole idea of work incentives and the empirical fact it isn't a big deal anyway
it is just really bizarre from any other usefulness perspective. unless of course you are the bourgeoisie

Man this political tension with Iran is starting to worry me more now that I have friends in the army. I really hope we don't end up going to war with them.
Re: Testing Chat Thread
Harper may be a good politician but hes a terrible PM. If Layton hadn't died we may have seen some compassion injected back into Federal politics but now, I guess we're stuck.
I actually miss Cretien, and I fucking hated him.
