Conquest wasn't that bad, for what it was. I mean, at least he avoided the obvious shit like forum/newsgroup naming which plagues so many fics, so there's that.

Could've done with less of the Take Thats I guess (pretty sure Troi getting killed was one; possibly the Halsey guy but not sure) but eh. I mean it did kinda go against what you'd expect of a VS fic at the end there, with the Ent-E crew "founding" humanity in SW and the Empire and Feddies teaming up against Insane!Jacen.

Also a little funny in hindsight since it was written well before the LotF series. :3

It's not a great work of literature or anything but I wouldn't put it on the level of TSW, either.

I think that the murder of Caesar is the best bit, but that the rest of it is... bleh.

Allow me to summarise;

It is a piece of fan fiction in which Jean-Luc Picard is goaded into raping Jaina Solo. A paragon of morality, human decency and rationality is portrayed as a man who winds up raping a younger woman because he doesn't like what a bunch of cyborgs did to him once.

Conquest, my friend, is bad.

What.

This: :picard: doesn't even begin to address the sheer what-the-fuck that this is.

§ 15 wrote:Jaina smiled. "Now, Jean-Luc. Now you begin to see, don't you? Anger and aggression make you strong." She leaned across the table and gripped his hand tightly. "Lust makes you strong" she whispered, arching her back seductively.

Picard's reeled. All of the forbidden impulses and thoughts of the past few days returned now, intensified a hundredfold. His vision seemed to narrow so that she was all he could see- the rest of the room seemed to dissolve away into a fog in his mind. He began to feel feverish, as if his blood was boiling, and it was almost as if his conscious self were being submerged beneath his base instincts. Like an animal, he uncoiled from his seat, leapt upon her, threw her to the ground, and forced himself upon her.
i don't know if she is doing mind tricks or something on him though cause all the time he's like "'yes mister jaina' said picard, everything seemingly seemed to make unknown but large amounts of sense when she explained it"

however to say that it is tsw level horrible is a bit weird considering the rape in that one

lol you guys never read it?

I used to at work when I had nothing to do. It's not the worst fanfic (Graham Kennedy's is worse) but it's pretty bad. The only passable versus fiction I've read is Chucks.

Conquest might not be as bad as the Salvation War, but it fulfils the same basic area of being bad, but at the same time being widely regarded as good-quality fiction by a fairly large number of fans. I was really just mentioning it as an example, and I could have used something else along those lines, but it was the only one I could think of offhand that wasn't either deliberately bad and popular because of that (the Unnamed Porno Fanfic), or just an example of someone who is ultimately just a beginner running into a couple of stumbling blocks.

tbh, sometimes I feel an irrational need to be righteously outraged by something

that was one particular episode of that

the :smug: was just silly though

EDIT: I honestly do not enjoy tragedies at all though

is it an eva fanfic that 'fixes' things by making shinji 'badass'?

MEANWHILE, IN THE WHITE HOUSE:

"Let me go, Barry. I can kill Hurricane Sandy."
"What? How, Joe?"
"Have you ever seen Independence Day?"

adds warhammer 40k in the mix, so it makes shinji a "magnificent bastard" who turns into a chaos god, at least from what the sequel assumed

i guess it was also pretty bad

Biden is a true American Hero. Like Captain America. Not Ultimate Captain America, though, cause Joe will never be president. Until he kills Obama.

Yes. In the end he turn into Tzeentchi, Rei turn into Reigle (Nurgle), Asuka turn into Asukhon (Korne), and Misato into what's-its-name (basically Slaanesh)

Also, I enjoyed reading TSW when it was coming out.

i just did a carbon calculator

Your footprint is 2.28 metric tons per year
The average footprint for people in United States is 20.40 metric tons
The average for the industrial nations is about 11 metric tons
The average worldwide carbon footprint is about 4 metric tons
The worldwide target to combat climate change is 2 metric tons

not good enough dammit

not good enough
