the doors to the portable are metal and locked at all times so they're in better shape than the actual classrooms

Responsible attitudes lead to it, so we can't have them.
And good to hear Brandon, I hope she never has to go through this.
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
Jesus the shooting thread on teo is a fucking travesty. I'm as pro-gun as any, you all know that but something has to be done. And it's going to cost money, so nothing will be done.

would seriously appreciate you posting about the long gun registry because it would be a great example
i generally consider myself pro-gun but i'm not nuts about it

Pro-gun by typical American standards, or pro-gun by teo standards?
Because those are not the same thing.

Like? An example of what not to do? I posted a few brief thoughts but I'm not sure what your looking for.Losonti Tokash wrote:would seriously appreciate you posting about the long gun registry because it would be a great example

I think I just got some things mixed up and gave it the wrong name, I'm not sure.

I have no idea what you're talking about, here.Darksi4190 wrote:Pro-gun by typical American standards, or pro-gun by teo standards?

Fuck man, if I didn't see a post every day to the effect of ".50cal goes a long way, we need to ban" then I might be inclined to be fine with a registry. And then I think "they probably consider me unreasonable" and wonder if I'm part of the problem.

Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
Do most anti-gun efforts seem to focus on big weapons? Rifles, shotguns, etc? I hear a lot about Canada's Long Gun registry, or Assault Weapon bans in the US, but never anything about pistols. It just seems weird to me, since long guns can be used for hunting and are very hard to sneak around with, and if you really must have a gun for home defense, a shotgun seems ideal. Meanwhile pistols kill just as well but are easier to conceal and as far as I'm aware can only be used for target shooting?
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
Yes. Handguns have been controlled and registered since 1934, there isn't much left to do.

Pretty sure you can use handguns for hunting here.
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
Yes, we can't though.
That I have no issue with.

Oh, well there we go. I've only heard of the Long Gun Registry, so I guess that coloured my perceptions.Aaron wrote:Yes. Handguns have been controlled and registered since 1934, there isn't much left to do.
Is that common? I'm not really all that knowledgeable about this stuff which is why I figured I should start askingLos wrote:Pretty sure you can use handguns for hunting here.
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
You can make a convincing case that you should have a sidearm while hunting feral pigs or boar. Or in Grizzly, Kodiak or Polar bear country while hunting.

BUT WAI U NEED HANDGUN? KNIVES AND BATS AND BRICKS ARE JUST AS DANGEROUS IN THE HANDS OF PEOPLE BCUZ PEOPLE KILL NOT GUNS!
Yeah, there's a question of natural lethality in some places around the world. Not many animals in Australia that are a threat are necessarily dealt with by a firearm. Using a shotgun to blast a redback, though not unheard of is a helluva lot different to using one to take out a bear that's pissed off about being in your yard/being shot at by you (though the latter is probably a commentary on other issues too).

Hey guys, Scrawl says to be civil. Because he doesn't know what board he's on, apparently.
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
We actually were, probably the most civil discussion on the topic ever on TEO. Then we apparently went to bed and left it to the B team.

Just when I thought Starglider couldn't get any crazier, he compares the US invading countries to arresting rich criminals who happen to be bankers.
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
I love him. He should be held up to all as an example of the dangers of money.
Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
If the price of having lots of money is acting like a douche on the Internet, I think I'll take the money.

this is your regular reminder that starglider is a bird furry who finds my little ponies hotweemadando wrote:Just when I thought Starglider couldn't get any crazier, he compares the US invading countries to arresting rich criminals who happen to be bankers.
because the dude is both a massive troll (like in that thread) and for-real kee-razy
like, we can boil him down to some basic features. apart from the basics of life + ponies and birds, we have someone who is perpetually arrested by the unreasonable fear that any day now he'll be up against a wall, cigarette forced in his mouth, and looking down the barrel of a gun. and he is also perpetually hateful and contemptuous of the greater mass of humanity. these two things basically explain everything harvey birdman posts in n&p

Re: Lament 2: Cry Harder
