Believe me when I sayjoviwan wrote:This is the Sony we're talking about that is so in love with draconian DRM schemes they released PC games that literally couldn't be played on PC's, or borked systems on install? Right? THAT sony?
That Sony loves money more than anything.

I suppose I can't argue, considering that they released an updated version of their handheld that forced you to repurchase games you already owned for "the previous handheld that is identical except for the new one not having a UMD drive."

Sony's strategy for the lifetime of the PS3 lead me to believe that they actually hate money though
Re: generic vidja gaems
There's an old saying about how it takes a Japanese company ten years to fail.
I think that has something to do with upper staff members retiring

Hey Veef you seem like someone who might know this: who owns the rights to the old Shining Force games, particularly the third if it's spread out amongst the three?
Re: generic vidja gaems
Naw man I never played Shining Force.
I never even finished Xenogears.

Generally it is the publisher who ends up owning the rights. So probably Sega by looking at Shining Force's wiki page and they have basicly published everything with the Shining Force nameInfinity Biscuit wrote:Hey Veef you seem like someone who might know this: who owns the rights to the old Shining Force games, particularly the third if it's spread out amongst the three?

So, GOG finally got System Shock 2.
Time for a replay.

Heavy Rain became too tedious and after learning that ten hours in is only the halfway point, I returned it. I read the endings, though.

Re: generic vidja gaems
From what I get, it's a thing the main protagonist of Heavy Rain keep screaming at the top of his lungs
No.
Re: generic vidja gaems
I gave Heavy Rain about 30 minutes before getting frustrated with the controls. Thankfully it was just a rental.
Re: generic vidja gaems
By curiosity, when y'all people say "rental", do you mean there's services which allow people to rent games like we used to be able to rent movies, or is it only "I borrowed it from a friend / acquaintance" ?
No.
Re: generic vidja gaems
In my case I rented it from Gamefly, but yes, there are plenty of services like that around.Oxymoron wrote:By curiosity, when y'all people say "rental", do you mean there's services which allow people to rent games like we used to be able to rent movies, or is it only "I borrowed it from a friend / acquaintance" ?

Yeah, around here there's not really any stores that do it anymore but we have vending machines that will usually have higher profile games available to rent.

I bought the game and returned it within the seven day window for a refund.
Re: generic vidja gaems
I'm doing that with blands 2 right now. Not horribly impressed by what I've seen so far but I got it used so I can do a return for something else.Negative Knub wrote:I bought the game and returned it within the seven day window for a refund.
Re: generic vidja gaems
Oh, yeah, sorry, man. It's a joke. There's a sequence in the game where JASON! goes missing, and all you do for the next 10 minutes is run around a crowded mall, trying to bump into all the scripted events, and the only thing you can actually do is "Press X: Jason," which makes your character shout "JASON!" in a variety of outrageously terrible ways.Questor wrote:Is this a pop culture reference I'm not getting?joviwan wrote:JASON!Negative Knub wrote:Heavy Rain became too tedious and after learning that ten hours in is only the halfway point, I returned it. Re: generic vidja gaems
i am told there is a very similar glitch at the end of the game when you face off against the bad guy
Re: generic vidja gaems
Oh, I thought it was a reference to my belief that a really good game is just getting started around hour 50...
