Installing the new Sim City right now. Bought a physical copy from the local Micromania (a French Gamestop subsidiary) - my connection is too shitty these days to buy them online, and it cost the same on Origin anyway.
So, right out of the box, something like 2 days after the international launch, there's already an update and it looks quite big (edit : 82 MB).
GG EA.

$60 for a pc game is bullshit. I'm passing.
And of course there isn't a demo.

There's still a lot of indie games doing a good job of entertaining us for a low price without all of this bullshit, it's mostly the AAA titles and EA and some other companies which are the main... bullshit provider, shall we say.Negative Knub wrote:lol.PC gamingEA is so fucked these days.

Re: generic vidja gaems
Indie games are also an overwhelming ocean of garbage, but without even decent production values.
Anyway apparently French servers are getting hammered but if you get it to work send a region invite.

Well, looks like I'll have to wait until this week-end to play it, the time for them to sort that shit out (hopefully).
In the meantime, I think imma play some New Vegas...

Re: generic vidja gaems
Always online leading to inability to even play single player because the servers can't handle the load, who knew amirite lol?
But it's cool, EA will never shut down those servers making your game utterly worthless one day...right?

And that's why no one ever plays MMOs :V
Re: generic vidja gaems
Well they should have marketed it as SimCity Online and charged a monthly subscription fee if they wanted that.
At least then they could cost the customers even more money with the usual disaster that is launch day. Go big or go home I say.

This is why the last EA game I bought for PC was Command & Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath.RogueIce wrote: But it's cool, EA will never shut down those servers making your game utterly worthless one day...right?

can't believe people still pre-order in the era of digital downloads
or buy without having it first seen by other people who can expose the game for the pack of lies it may be

Re: generic vidja gaems
I'm considering preordering Heart of the Swarm because I already know what it will have in it and I'm pretty sure I will like it. For anything else though, I'll never preorder again after the debacle of ME3. Even HotS is a special case, because the beta has been open for months now and a ton of replays have been covered on youtube by SC2 commentators. Most games don't do this.
Although you raise an interesting issue, as kickstartered games are a kind of preorder. And I don't mind putting down money for those.

Re: generic vidja gaems
What do you get out of preordering, though? Is it one of the things where you get a bonus for doing it?
Re: generic vidja gaems
Simcity preorders got $20 towards any game $30+ in the Origin store. Plus now a free game because of their fuckup.
