It was only the doors on one side they replaced, right? Go compare the two. Odds are the door on the replaced side isn't quite as flush as the one on the undamaged side.

Yeah that's what it is. I don't think the replaced door is sitting quite right. The whistling noise is annoying but I could learn to get over it if it can't be fixed. What I was worried about is whether or not the seal will still stop water from getting in if I have to drive or leave it out in the rain.

Oxymoron wrote:The lyrics theme is about body-positivity, accepting yourself for what you are without trying to conform to others' standards of beauty.

The video, on the other hand, is a dance number with lady gaga in sexy underwear showing off a model's body, surrounded by standardized "crowd dancers" which all look more or less the same.

Superficially at least, there seems to be some kind of dissonance in my eyes, at least between the kind of message it's trying to send and the one it effectively send.

(note that I have note watched the video's four minutes long introduction and choose a video with only the musical number, so maybe I'm missing something. But on the other hand, I doubt MTV would show the entire thing either.
Sandman wrote:From what I can tell, I think the song's actually about speaking out against homophobia, racism, and sexism. Just from a glance at the lyrics.

I haven't seen the video, admittedly... so whether it fulfils that is unknown to me.
you are both mistaken

the message is "conform, obey, prepare for aleister crowley's new eon and accept the rule of the illuminati"

clearly
Guess I Wont listen the song anymore :S.

It's actually pretty common for Crowleyite etc folks to have sexualised double-meanings to their symbols, at least from what I've seen

anyway, is STD worth watching? I found the first Star Trek reboot to be a completely charmless snorefest (worse that Nemesis, even) and the trailer for STD makes it look pretty terrible. But then, trailers make most films look terrible, so I'd like some opinions of people who've seen the film.

I don't know what's STD? Or is that a lame attempt to be funny like "AssCreed" and similar? :v

Except everything that's at least semi-official that I've seen capitalized the "Into" part so it's more properly STID. :colbert:

it ran on plot holes
nuKirk continued to be a charmless, incompetent little shit
the villain's motivation can be summed up as 'moo hoo ha ha'
sherlock cumberbatch was good though, and scotty was amusing

As long as you don't go into it expecting anything more than a popcorn action movie I'd say it's pretty watchable.

I wouldn't say Into Darkness is shit, but mang I was having a conversation yesterday with my friend who just got out of the cinema and we spent like half an hour on the phone talking about what we didn't like or thought was stupid or didn't make sense.

Even for popcorn action movies, I prefer that they don't actively insult my intelligence

So it looks like I'm down about 20lbs since Val's issues prompted a change in our diet and attitudes towards our health. Which is welcome, my knees hurt less now. Its nice to have cut down on the meat as a result, I never really realized that a whole angus steak or chicken breast on top of potatoes and another side....basically gorging ourselves.

Today people were congratulating me on losing weight.

Nobody told me I had comment worthy weight.

This is fucking puzzling.

'lol ur fat' is generally considered rude, while 'oh, you look healthy, have you lost weight?' is fine

It seems odd to comment on a weight loss when weight itself hasn't been pre-established within our conversations. Had today's conversation begun with "a year ago it look like someone ate you" and wound up at "now you appear smaller" it would be more acceptable as a precedent. I can't very well be expected to discuss the loss of something I didn't know I had.
