Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
I just want a cool movie with Roman legions kicking ass, taking names, and wearing lorica segmentata armor regardless of whether or not the legions really wore it a lot on campaign.
Is that too much to ask? Any movies or even decently available TV shows that can do this?
Also King Arthur had an awesome soundtrack and that alone is reason enough to like it.

No, clearly it was North Korean sabotage.Questor wrote:RE:Asiana 214:
Do you want to see some fun politics? Boeing is going to want this to be 100% pilot error, because of the profile of the 777 on their road maps. South Korea is going to demand 100% mechanical failure. *A and United will just want the whole thing to go away. I hope the NTSB was joking about including SK authorities, at least in anything more than a "bring the documents we ask for and we might allow you to read the report" role, same as Boeing's people.

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
Flagg that is just awful
And I will be very interested to hear the NTSB findings, because the intial eyewitness reports are trending 'too low, too fast', which could go either way(plane or human) with blame, or possibly both.
Ghastly business, that.

Sorry, it's the new drugs I'm on. Until my body adjusts to them my brain will do funny shit like make me collapse unexpectedly and need a cane, or lower my inhibitions to the point where I post an hilarious racist joke. So if a mod wants to delete that post or save it for posterity or whatever I'm cool with it.
Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
So I watched Marvel's The Avengers again today. God I love that movie.

"Well, this person accused of a crime is probably going to buy a plane ticket to this non-extradition treaty country the minute he posts bail. What do we do?"
"Freedom of movement, suckas."
"Damn, we are powerless to stop him."
Unless we just kept everyone awaiting trial locked up until the verdict comes in, I suppose. Or, y'know, we restrict their ability to travel until all is said and done.

So I've been a longtime watcher of things like Repair Her Armor, The Hawkeye Initiative, and Escher Girls.
I stumbled across this image:
...and knew I had to give it the Hawkeye treatment:
You're all very very welcome.

Re: Testing Chat IV: A New Hope
I leave you people alone for one extended holiday, and look what happens. In any case, Neil Gaiman totally is one of the most overrated nerd authors of all time. Probably in the top five if we discount the Golden Age effect and restrict ourselves to prose authors. Funnily enough, I actually am starting to sour on his works for reasons I was unable to articulate until I read Catherynne Valente's Deathless, though I won't really go into details unless people really want to hear me take many words to say that most genre fiction is shallow and hollow and this really pisses me off.
Finally, WWZ-the-book sucks because it doesn't grasp the nature of the ghoul/zombie edit:or alternatively is unspeakably vile, and you know, a hikikomori and Zatoichi the Blind Gardener teaming up to slaughter zuvembies with Yamato spirit or some shit. Apparently the movie is better than the trailers equating the walking dead with Palestinians would have you believe, but I already have a robit-punching movie on my schedule so.
