Turning this to a happier subject, I've got Machiavelli, vol. 1 of the Tale of Genji, Alistair Horne, Mieville, and Don Quixote for my vacation. I'm going to be doing some ~beach reading~
Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
Did you know that Machiavelli was an ASSASSIN?
it's true, I saw it in a video game.

History is cooler when it's written by French game designers.

My boy Nick Machs was hella tight, the Prince is a wicked satire, and reading Eco/anything on the Hashashin makes AssCreed so much funnier because now I have to imagine all those dudes in hoods being high as hell. AssCreed 6 should have Cheech and Chong as Assassins.joviwan wrote:Did you know that Machiavelli was an ASSASSIN?

relevant to AssCreed 3:

I am attracted to women who have had or currently have ovaries, for lack of a better way to distinguish them. Does this make me a bad person?

I mean seriously, you're "attracted to" internal organs
This is just transphobia

You've so totally hijacked the meaning of that suffix. It's beautiful.
But yeah, whatever you want to call it. It's personal preference.
And wouldn't that technically be homophobia as well, since I'm disinterested in sleeping with somebody who was assigned male?
Or maybe you could just recognize that not being inclined to sleeping with a type of person (or approve of things they do, in the case of, say, islamophobia) isn't the same as being irrationally terrified of them

There's probably homophobia, too, but it's also cissexism by even seeing those women as "male".
And it's not just a "personal preference". Trans women can often be entirely indistinguishable from cis women, physically, even to someone who professionally examines genitals or a living. It's okay to be attracted to something like femininity, but when you exclude many very feminine people from that because your brain connects to them as "men", you have a problem, not a preference.

Homo- and transphobia haven't meant the same thing as something like arachnophobia for decades. You're not being clever here.

I said "assigned male" for a reason. Did I use an incorrect term?Infinity Biscuit wrote:There's probably homophobia, too, but it's also cissexism by even seeing those women as "male".

Re: Testing Chat V: The Final Mysterious Island: Miami Beach
No, you didn't, but what possible reason could a doctor's or parent's assignment of gender to someone play in how attracted you are to them? It's not the assigned gender that's the issue for you, and it should be pretty obvious what actually is (your mind seeing those people as men anyway)

I can't even summon the will to make a sarcastic comment on Ryan acting like a jackass again.
