From the thread on how to stop superfast superheroes, talking about electrified plates that only deactivate when normal-speed people step on them:
Batman: Yeah, sure it will, unless they're MOVING FASTER THAN ELECTRICITY! Ha! How d'you like them apples?!
He's kind of an idiot.
Edit: Nevermind, I lack reading comprehension and am enjoying the taste of my own shoe.
...he's still an idiot.
Me: Unless the person in question can move faster than electricity, it'll work.Batman wrote:Unless the speedster is moving faster than electricity and the lag time of your triggering mechanism. Also, note the qualifying 'may' in there.Oni Koneko Damien wrote:Unless the speedster is moving faster than electricity (somewhere in the vicinity of c), the shock's going to do its work.Batman wrote:But may also not be on them long enough for it to matter.

I was actually just about to post on Ms 18K-Edits, but not for the number, for the what-wrong-with-this-statement
Yeah but you still bought the textbooks right?I'm a university student. Textbooks for one semester cost me $500. On Wikipedia, I get thousands of books' worth of information for free.

Re: Godammed SDN
That just seems like an update of "I'M A JUGGALO WOOP WOOP cockgoblin" that used to be popular (or some variation thereof).Aaron wrote:Spunkfelching retard?
How creative, he's combined implications of homosexuality (totally OK, just don't use "that" word) and a mental disability, never seen that before.
There was another one too with the "implications of homosexuality (totally OK, just don't use "that" word)" but I can't remember what it was.
Re: Godammed SDN
You're going to have to be specific here cause I don't remember anything like that.RogueIce wrote: There was another one too with the "implications of homosexuality (totally OK, just don't use "that" word)" but I can't remember what it was.

hatfucker is best cause it's like what does even mean you can't fuck a hat you use it to cover thy nakedness in a slapstick comedy
it's just two random words strung together where one isn't even offensive
like
coffeewanker
or
flannelwhore
though wtf a cockgoblin is is also anyone's guess

I think adr got it with "cumguzzler".Zod wrote:You're going to have to be specific here cause I don't remember anything like that.RogueIce wrote: There was another one too with the "implications of homosexuality (totally OK, just don't use "that" word)" but I can't remember what it was.
To be fair, I don't see either of those used much these days. But when they were they passed without comment from anyone (or at least I never saw it, dunno if it ever got brought up in the Mod Clubhouse).
So yeah, what Aaron posted doesn't surprise me that it would pass, because it's got precedent.
Oh snap, legalism. I hang my head in shame.
EDIT: Oh, and cumdumpster. I saw that tossed around a few times. Don't know if it was at guys or girls, though.

They don't exactly ban 'cocksucker' either.RogueIce wrote:I think adr got it with "cumguzzler".Zod wrote:You're going to have to be specific here cause I don't remember anything like that.RogueIce wrote: There was another one too with the "implications of homosexuality (totally OK, just don't use "that" word)" but I can't remember what it was.

Yeah. I don't know if those insults are really "anti-gay" or not but whatever.
To go into another topic, the good ol' VS debate. I don't get it with some of the tryhards and their dogged insistence to not give Trek any advantage, ever. I know we've gone over this before but it still amazes me.
Like, who gives a shit if warp strafing works. At best I see that as more of a tactical advantage for certain scenarios, but can easily be circumvented by the Empire: attacking in numbers or just bypassing areas with a bunch of ships, hypering in close, firing off a volley and leaving, using hyperdrive-equipped fighters which are smaller and more nimble (and more expendable), etc.
So yes, you can totally give the Trek side warp strafing without conceeding defeat in the overall vs picture. But that would be showing weakness or something, I don't know.
Personally, I think the Empire would win in "all out war because the plot said so" by sheer numbers: 1 million worlds for the GE vs 500 worlds for the UFP (if you accept those numbers) = massive industrial advantage. So if the Empire is willing to go balls to the wall, damn the torpedoes full speed ahead, they'll totally win. 2,000 dudes with pitchforks can still kill a single Special Forces soldier no matter how badass or well equipped and all that jazz (so the tech doesn't really matter, unless they're like Superman/Wolverine level invincible).
tl;dr - Who gives a shit about the gigatons? Wars can win by virtue of attrition if nothing else, since pretty much any VS scenario on the internet assumes "fight to the death, fuck the losses amirite guys?"
