sometimes i feel like arguing that a scientific view of the world requires either a deity or a series of functions which amount to a deity substituteStraha wrote:I sort of want to go into that 9/11 thread and start yelling at Asedra for daring to know that there could be 'truth' about 'scientific' claims and demand to know what the root cause of his psychoses that allow him to try and project an ordered world onto the rest of us are.
Just full on loony bin with only the slightest shred of sanity.
eg, that the world is naturally ordered, has an inherent value that makes learning about it worthwhile, that it is made intelligible to us, that our minds are those sorts of things which are good at discovering information as opposed to things which are merely good at reproducing and create survival-useful representations of information, et cetera
and these are all things that follow from a christian view but don't from a darwinist view
but i know it wouldn't be nearly as fun to actually argue on sdn as to pretend to argue in my head
