Your theory does work a heck of a lot better for the hugbox (creative writing) and the BROB (Bastard Random Omnipotent Being which covers quest/RP/self games). I'm actually so very suprised over the lack of perma-bans from those two forum over sex roleplay and paedophilia, tho it has been mostly stamped out.

I have never, in my fucking life, used a flash drive as slow as the Kingston Digital DataTraveler 101 Generation 2. It took 40 minutes to transfer 9.39gb. It's going back.

That is 4mb/s, which is still USB 2 speeds. USB1 speeds top out at something like 1.5mb/s.

So yes, it can go slower!

In any case, the owner intends to use Spacebattles to stress-test his new forum software, much like he used Spacebattles to stress-test vBulletin.

It's not like mike keeps paying for sdn even though he isnt allowed to do anything out of some sense of atavism

didn't mike say once that the ads basically cover the costs of the board on their own?

So

Is it like his child that has gone into the world and has its own independent existence

At what point does offering someone a free service means you have to continue to offer that service

and ps does that mean sb doesn't

This Patriot Xporter averaged 16.8mb/s with 9.41gb. Well worth the price difference!

It's a great excuse because it means he also doesn't have to actually fix anything

Can't stop
Won't finish

It's brilliant

Well it's not like Kier seriously gives a shit or anything about the board per se. He doesn't post there, doesn't manage it etc. The only time he appears is to involve big software changes like talking about moving to XenForo or implementing the subscription thing.

All the 'solutions' have been the admins I guess.

Like the one from Warhammer.

I only remember that thread kind of vaguely. Can't even remember if I posted in it. I mostly remember White Rabbit and Ralson going at it for ten million rounds.

It hasn't been in vogue for a while. I can't remember a thread in that theme since I made 'The Clans invade Industrial 7' :v

"trenches = ww1"
"er not quite, what exactly are you defining doctrine as"
"combined arms using manoeuvre"
"what you just described predates your definition of modern by about a thousand years"
"but digital technology"

Yeah well the best laid plans

But the thing is a lot of 40k guys try to present the Imperial Guard as a really vital and elite organisation with cutting edge weapons and tactics, which really is more or less totally untrue and even totally at odds with the themes and imagery of the setting. So I guess people get frustrated?

i always had them pegged as meat-shields sent in to soften the enemy up for the 1337 marines

but my only real exposure has been to the dow games :v
