So I've been playing MW4 Mercs cuz i'm bored of more interesting games obviously

so there was this EPIC DEFEND THE LINE mission where a bunch of robots tried coming through this choke point

and I had my ATLAS FUCKMECHZ ROBIT and it had two super ppcs and three x med pulse lasers and some flavor of LRM (it doesn't matter)

and i stood up on the hill and shot people and sometimes retreated a bit to cool off

superior western mech game

i srsly want to mute smugy mcsmugfuck player character but you can't mute just voice

gawd

For some reason that reminds me of people complaining that fs2 is easy when it defaults to easy and all th enemy guns are massively inferior to player guns

Well I think this is more of an issue of mechanics since there's not much any one robot can do other than run around and torso twist

it's a tank game with tall tanks except the tanks are just damage sponges with not fineness or anything that tanks can do

Yeah but the whole setup of missions like that

In TW 90s it was either hugely easy cause the badguys were dumb or nerfed
Or amazingly hard aimbot bullshits

Yeah I can see that. I'm not sure if weapon damage is skewed more for the player on the default setting in Mercs

some of that is though some designer being like well these stupid robots can't do anything other than run around so let's just have them rush this fixed position the player has to defend

i need to get off 4chan

but some guy was like "mechwarrior is a simulator. always has been"

and i was like

Simulating walking damage sponges as they run around trying not to get hit with precision flashlight guns

also i love this because they all did this

great PC game bullshit

ok ignore the fact there's like FIVE FUCKING KEYS just for targeting people in different ways which all amount to you just designated a target

why even have that

Gungriffon which if a fucking SEGA SATURN GAME just has all allies and enemies designated with unobtrusive yellow boxes around enemies and blue hexagons around allies

so when you need to shoot a missile you just point it at a target and wait for the tone which is like a second or two, and fire

not select target, hold reticle on target, then fire

was that to make it hard to use these almost guaranteed hit weapons hard to use?

well you fucking failed

The lol of lasers being hard to balance is so huge

But I think he 90s attitude to shooter balance (ie rof and conefire) plus bt fluff manual targeting created it

The best part is mw players who honestly can't think of a 'solution'

Well that's what happens when you're a xenophobic robomormon

and when your game isn't based on more weapons instead of better ones

seriously though

who the fuck thought you had to hit with ALL THE MISSILES to do damage

like, there is no space inside those robots for 240 missiles unless they're the size of beer cans

even Ace Combat isn't like that

holy fuck what
Mech Targeting Controls
Target next enemy E
Target nearest enemy Shift E
Target previous enemy Ctrl E
Target next teammate W
Target nearest teammate Shift W
Target previous teammate Ctrl W
Target object under reticule Q

:psyduck:

why did i think this was ever ok

look at this bullshit

can you imagine them trying to do the Clan invasion

all of the shit you paid for is now ass

enjoy

Also in Mercs I traded my Atlas for an Awesome with three Clan ER PPCs

the terrain engine in the game is nice

especially when other robots and things pop up over a ridge and everyone in my squad shoots them dead
