today the optometrist felt bad that I didn't have insurance and gave me a discount. She also referred me to someone who runs a dog walking service as a means of getting some income. After my regular eye exam she laughed as I mentioned the old Nintendo brand glasses they used to sell many years ago.

the past hour was a bit rough
i helped my mother get ready for her first job as despite her abundance of clothing, she insisted that she needed to do laundry asap
recently she admitted to my father that she's accepting the past five or more years of prompting by her doctor that she's going to need knee surgery to improve her quality of life. of course this came with a biting "i don't know why i bother telling you this"
as she was leaving for work i politely announced i was taking the dogs for a walk. during the 20 minutes of travel even the chords of inspiring weeaboo music couldn't completely contain a few choked tears with a familiar feeling of desperation.
when i got home i wiped the doggies' bottoms because they had bad poopies :x
and now my ears kinda hurt. i guess i need some of those noise canceling headphones

^--Fuck man, I wish I had something constructive to offer.
So Val was diagnosed with compassion fatigue today. 11 years of living with me and PTSD had her shoving a lot of shit down and I guess the dam finally broke. So she's on medication and has another appointment in 2 weeks. In the mean time the kids and I are pitching in.

Fuck I'm bad at bowling. Got a few strikes and several spares but I managed to nail my knee with a ball and now it's swollen up. I wonder if I'm the first person to ice a knee after bowling?

I think I killed my computer.
That's the heat sink for the graphics chip on the motherboard. The pins for the springs came out of the board and won't stay in now.
The fan on the PSU has a habit of stopping and making a terrible buzzing sound that only stops after a few smacks on the back by the vent. If this wasnt done, the computer overheated and shut off. Lately it's taken a lot more aggressive hits to stop, and I guess today was one hit too many.
I wonder, if I could temporarily get the heatsink down, could I put in a video card and have the computer run with that instead of the integrated video?
Fuck it, it's been 8 years since I got this thing, time for a replacement anyway. I've been looking for one for a couple years now. Maybe this is what was needed to actually get it done.

Aspirin and vodka. That'll fix it up.

As seen in Trailer Park Boys, this is not as silly as first suggested.
